Kava Curious
I was looking for an alternative from Xanax to help my anxiety, i came across Kava.  I ordered Fire Island 55g (as people said this was good for a noob).  On to the experience...

Note: i was feeling a little anxious before taking this

Mixed 4oz of chocolate milk with 1tsp of the Fire Island
I was sitting watching a football game during my experience

2:30pm chugged it......
Instant reaction was numb tongue and lips
3 minutes in, felt a little body buzz
10 minutes in, my first time standing up after drinking it, felt great standing up (relaxed legs, a little floating effect)
11mintes-1hr30min, relaxed, felt great, no anxiety, loving life....the effect slowly was wearing off, but still feeling good

5pm made another 4oz drink with just regular milk!
its now 7:20pm, i'm feeling relaxed, more than i expected which is awesome

I guess the 1st time hit me harder than other people (as i read all about it, reverse tolerance, paying dues to the kava gods...)

I wrote this because i read a lot of 1st time experiences, but not super detailed... (Hope this helps the researchers looking to try Kava)

Couple of questions for the more experienced users....
1. What Kava should I move onto next?  I would like to make my own (I really liked the reviews of Stone)
2. Do I have to continuosly drink Kava daily to build up my tolerance (or reverse tolerance)? Or can it be every other day, weekly, etc....

Thanks for reading, I can't wait to get into this great world of Kava!(smiley: happy)

I've been drinking kava for two months straight now, and have gone through a few vendors-first kona, then Rex, then Bula, and now Paradise. I've actually liked them all and find the DHK kavas to be my favourite. I did have to drink daily and now i can handle the 9year root via Paradise.

I'm at the point where i try to only do it every other day or so. You may notice dryness of the skin...it hit my hands first and then spread all over my body like scales...a bit itchy, but it seems to go away and doesn't hurt.

I'm more relaxed now, and don't crave alchohol or other drugs as much so i view this as a win.

I like Stone a lot, I would recommend it. I think it would be good to try a high DHM one and a high Kavain one, just to get an idea of what you enjoy most. Stone is high DHM, I'm not certain what Fire Island is.

You don't need to do it every day for sure. I think when I started I was probably drinking twice a week. For me the reverse tolerance took a month to get good feeling, but I'm a hardhead.

Okay thanks, also another question I forgot to ask...

I've been reading about the different substances in different types of Kava. Like a type has 426135. I understand what it is behind the numbers, but for example, where do I find this actual number for Stone? Also for other strains? Is it on the website, cuz I don't see it

I love chiefs jungle. tastes strong but have grown to love it. i love that stoney feeling i get from it. Has anyone else ever tried kavaboy. it is a tongan strand that got me into kava, but ive been to busy trying different kinds that i havent went back to it again and im wondering i would enjoy it more now that ive begun to fully experience the effects(after 2 months of drinking 2_3 times a week.)

Loonboon1, you'll want "Kava, the Pacific Elixir." It's in an appendices. A very incomplete appendix. Nakamal@Home Vanuatu kava is mostly Borogu, Boroguru, and Melomelo. Those are chemotypes 246531, 245613, and 426135, or 426153 (not really sure) respectively.

I would advise Shaman next. The bad side is the expense, but the good side is that it really is just that much more powerful. I'm currently drinking a Stone-like kava - Vanuatu kava from www.realkava.com. Prince Consort tested, Duke of Edinburgh approved.
