hey guys!, my name is Joanie & I just started taking Natrol kava kava capsules -- 200mg/60mg. I only take one at a time and at first I thought I was having placebo effect, until it got better everytime I've taken it. (I would take more than one at a time but I'm scared of the liver warning on the bottle :dead:
but anyways, after about 15 minutes. .I have minimal anxiety and benzo withdrawals are slim to none. I feel more clear headed also. (it also seems to make my suboxone kick in A LOT stronger)

some background....im in recovery for opiates & benzos. I have almost a year, I will have a year on September 2nd. I tske a low dose of valium (2mg) for panic attacks and I take suboxone for pain (which I get off of next week when I start my knee injections). so far I don't need any valium with the kava so I decided to just get the withdrawals over with . I'm excited to be off of both the suboxone and valium soon!

and I REALLY want to try the kava candies!!

and my mom wants to jump on the kava train, as I'm trying to get a good friend of mine to try it, he's also in recovery and is stressed out A LOT!

Hi Joanie! Glad to have you with us. If you have any questions please never hesitate to ask.

Also, kudos to you for getting out of opiate/benzo addiction. Two of the worst. Goes to show you, that no matter how insidious a substance can be, we can still overcome it.

Welcome! Many of us here in the forum are in recovery. I hope the injections help! I was a back patient for many years, and pain management is no fun. I pray you won't eventually need the medicine.

@r3gu74t0r. Welcome to the forum Joanie. ::awesomesmiles:: I guess the majority of us here are looking for something to replace dangerous drugs and alcohol. It's too bad we still need Kava and stuff to make us feel better but life is a bitch and then you die. If we were a rock band, we would be called "The Mellow Ones".

thanks guys!
haha I like that 'the mellow ones':)

and yeah its also a bitch to be in recovery but still have problems like pain or anxiety (plus I can't take ssri's or snri's, I've been on around 30 psych meds and benzos are the only thing that help my panic...besides kava!!!:woot:)

I hope you stick with the kava until the magic happens. I struggled with opiates for years. I finally had back surgery and eventually got my life back. I've had the pleasure of tapering off both of your meds as well. Kava is the only substance known to me that I don't/can't abuse.

yeah, I plan on ordering some powder to make tea and the candies...cos the capsules help tremendously, so I can't even imagine how much the tea will help!

I can stop suboxone will zero withdrawals whenever I want, luckily I just don't withdrawal from that. hopefully I'll be off of it in the next few weeks, if the knee injections do their job
