Hello I've been reading the forums for a few days now and just placed an order for rose saffron and chocolate mint concentrates from Paradise after reading many discussions and reviews. I should have an order of Nambawan from BKH waiting in my mailbox today too and I am super excited!! I have only tried kava from the health food store so am super stoked to have some *real :) kava. Just wanted to introduce myself...so hi!

Nambawan is vastly superior to anything you could find at a health food store (the place that ironically carries the worst kava), if you had any success with your previous kava, then Nambawan should blow your mind. (in a peaceful way)::tipshat::

I felt some very tiny effect from the health food store variety, enough to pique my curiosity..... I bought a powder (no telling what strain, just marked "kava".... :-/ ) I also bought a "tincture", I guess you would say and felt some anti anxiety effects from that. So excited to get home and try the Nambawan!! I forgot to say.... I have read a LOT before ordering, but if any of you all have any advice, tips, tricks, etc... I would love to hear!!! Thx!

Tincture is a nasty way to consume kava. The nambawan is outstanding though. You should enjoy it @Megan

Yes the tincture was horrible!!

I tried the nambawan tonight, 4 tbsp with about 10 Oz of water. Kneaded for 10 min then drank about 3/4 of it over 30 min. Sad to say not very much effect...reverse tolerance I guess :-/ I did feel a little bit of the edge taken off of stress and a bit of body relaxation but also got a tiny headache and kind of irritated. I ate a little and my headache went away...so maybe that was just from the empty stomach. The effects I did feel lasted only maybe an hour after drinking. Any advice for getting through the break in period? I would love to feel the full effects asap....anxiety has become a huge problem for me and I am really hoping kava will keep me away from having to take meds! Thanks in advance for any advice!

@Megan Welcome! Glad to have you with us. When you do the nambawan next time, bump that 4 tbsp to 6 or so. When you're starting out it's best to slam as much kava into your system as possible with each shell. Reverse tolerance plays a part with some people. It definitely did with me. Consuming lots of kavalactones will be your cure :)

My wife takes the coconut vanilla extract every morning and loves it. She takes it, then drinks her morning coffee. Says is really evens out her mornings anxiety wise. Anyways welcome, and if you have questions never hesitate to ask.

Yeah I agree with kap. An increase in root should help bust through RT a little quicker. I usually use about 8tbsp of root. Better to make more than you need and have leftovers. Your body should alert you when you drink enough or too much.

Edit* you mentioned a headache. Dehydration is common with kava use. Stay up on the water and electrolytes!

Top of the morning to ya Megan and welcome to the forum! ::awesomesmiles:: When you said the word Chocolate Mint, I started craving ice cream. :hungry: Don't do that to me, please! Too late, it's on the grocery list. I can tell you from past experience that ice cream after Kava is a pretty good combo ... if you're not on a diet. :D Good luck with you Kava Adventures!

OK so this morning I drank the leftover from last night (~2oz) and felt some very nice effects....a little euphoria and just overall sense of wellbeing ::cuteness::. Very nice, lasted only about an hour but even after I swear I felt less stressed at work. Usually I can be really sensitive but felt things rolling off my back easily ::aintthatnicez::. I just got home and tried the blending method, so we will see. I bumped up the kava as suggested:happy:. I ordered another (much less expensive) micronized kava this morning because I'm not trying to blow through this nambawan during RT! Can NOT wait for the paradise extracts to arrive. And I have to say they have amazing customer service! @Kapmcrunk you answered another one of my questions, which was about drinking coffee after kava...I was wondering if the caffeine would negate the kava effects. Sounds like no! So thanks!

@Megan, better keep it to mint ice cream. If you do chocolate, your eyes will turn brown. What do you mean!! Of course I know what I'm talking about.
