All kavas help me sleep. But the one that makes me sleepiest is Pouni ‘Ono. That’s odd, considering it’s a kava Tonga and those tend to be lighter and headier.

That was an interesting episode. My penis grew larger when I started drinking kava. By about an inch and a half. Then I had to have a prostatectomy. The urethra travels through the prostate so when they remove the prostate they take that part of the urethra with it. So when the urethra is joined back up, that length is missing. This meant that kava gave me a large penis but when cancer took that away it just went back to the size it always was. But it was weird having a giant penis for a year.

I don't suppose the two lucky forum members lost weight after starting kava? as this is the most reliable non surgical intervention, albeit a visual effect only. The need to have kava on an empty stomach is a nice way of weight management, as you don't feel hungry (because of the effects and then nausea probably).

Kava for me has helped with inflammation, stress, sleep issues. Truly amazing focus when writing as well. I've found that when drinking Kava right before I do some cold therapy to alievate the pain from my back injury, the relaxing effects seem to have a synergy with being in 1-3 deg water. Not for everyone though lol

Sort of in order. Feel free to add any cool effects from kava you have enjoyed. I should also mention that I get zero bad effects from grog.

1. vivid dreams, also nIghtmares stopped being scary

2. weight loss (just In time so I could qualify for needed cancer surgery that was restricted by weight). I have good weight now and look great (for an old guy)

3. completely eliminated all desire for alcohol. I went from 6- pack a day for 40 years to teetotal in 5 months with no effort nor cravings, not one.

4. it feels really good when I drink kava

5. better sleep. With kava I go to bed early, get 8 hours of sleep, wake feeling great. Always. Do not miss hangovers

Interesting, I never noticed more vivid dreams from kava. I take mirtazapine at night and the extra dream vividness from that is unreal. I'm someone who almost always dreams when I sleep, but this increased the immersive feeling so much.

Number 4 is my main reason. I love kava, especially the kavain euphoria. My only gripe is that it doesn't last longer.

It hasn't totally got rid of my desire to drink, because I like the flavour of beer and I don't find kava as convenient for socialising; however, I prefer the effects of kava in general.

I used to live for beer. I still like a na Heineken once in a while. As far as alcohol, I have zero interest. Kava's effects, while similar, add so much more complexity, while not killing my liver and not making me a fiend. I love it. I did a test last round of night shifts with no kava to see if it was kava making me depressed on nights. It wasn't the kava... just a correlation. If anything kava hard times just a bit more manageable without numbing you. Which is ideal

How much do you drink to get rid of the alcohol cravings? I'm drinking 2 teaspoons every day with water. Effect is very mild so I'm missing the kick I get from alcohol. I'm I drinking too little Kava?

It can be a question of time and not what strain or prep or amount or water ratio.

For me it was cumulative. It took 5 months of kava drinking before I lost all desire for alcohol. But I lost all cravings and they never returned in the 3 1/2 years since.
