Nylon vs strainer bag from Kona

Maybe i've finally hit that reverse tolerance (1 straight month of evening drinking-about half a cup per dose) or maybe it was that I tried using a chicks nylon, but boy tonight 6 tbs blasted me into orbit. So much so that i had to excuse myself from dinner as the room was starting to spin!

Previously I used the bag supplied from Kona Kava...any one else experience potency effects from different straining sources?

Kona offers muslin bags which are alright I guess, but my major gripe with them was that they held in a lot of the "grit" that I'd like to be consuming. Not to mention they fall apart so quickly. Nylon bags or work better in my opinion, since they strain out the larger root particles but let that fine grit get through. Obviously, the more grit you're consuming the more krunked you're going to get. Muslin bags just don't do it for me.

I'd recommend Fijian strainer bags personally... it's all I use. The fabric is awesome, you can find them on a few places online. I get mine from kickbackwithkava

Is this how the Fijian strainers supposed to be? I was using this one with Paradise Kava's kava. It seems to let most of it through. I thought they were thicker. I guess I might just be use to using Bula Kava House bags. Thought I'd try something new.

How does the Fijian bag compare to the nylon bag? I've been using n@h nylon bags.

Never seen kick back with kava, anything worth trying?

That bag up there is from kick back with kava.

If you think paradise kava's strainer is coarse, try Nakamal @ Home's. I'm relatively positive they're regular paint strainers you get a home depot. I'm currently tippling their strainer and using it. And yes, paradise's strainer is thinner, but it looks like the weave is just as tight. I'll scope it when I get home and compare the two to be sure.

This wasn't paradise's it was kick back with kava the kava I was using was from paradise. Confusing I know. I don't want to misrepresent people.

Thanks for the information though haha.

I usually just use some piece of fabric. I need things that are strong because I put a lot of force into my squeezing, I actually tore open a t shirt I was using from squeezing to hard

Yup, that's just how mine look. A different design though. Although you get a random design every time.

They are fairly open, but in my opinion that's just the only wait to go. Filter out the root chips and strands and get as much grit out of it as you can for a nice thick brew. These work great for that. Makes a very potent brew.
