Powdered Kava Review Pouni Ono

I've tried this for the past two nights. My preparation was just under 1/8 of a cup (just under two tablespoons) in a stocking, massaged in 1 and 1/3 cups of cold water. Three shells seems to be the sweet spot, but I think in the future, two shells would do. I have this problem with all kava, but nausea is not fun. It sets in after the first shell. I think part of the problem is an empty stomach. After the second shell I had something small to eat and that helped. After the third shell, I had something small as well, and I don't need any more kava tonight. I spaced out the three shells more than I did last night and if anything, the effect was stronger tonight.

This one feels almost more body-centered at first. The first thing I notice is a bit of relaxation and a numbness in my lips. Then the headiness sets in, but in all, it's not as heady as others that I have tried. Some can be so heady that I feel tense. This one is not so bad. Last night after a few hours I felt pretty sleepy.

I've not tried a lot of heavy kavas but I think this one is more balanced for me, and I kind of like it. Still deciding where it ranks among my favourites. As far as taste, it's not too bad, the kava mixes up lighter than other kavas I've tried. I still need to chase it with water and a tiny bit of food.

The nausea is the only downside, but that happens to me no matter what kava I try.

Overall, it's a very enjoyable kava, the effects are balanced but potent. It seems to be a good match for my evenings.

Hi Schmedward, thanks for the review. I like Pouni Ono too.
Have you ever considered washing with coconut water rather than regular water? I find that makes a huge difference for me in terms of how the kava sits in my stomach.
Another nice balanced kava with similar effects to the Pouni Ono (for me, anyway) is GHK Mahakea.
