Yes. In general the aluball was weaker and gave me more "heady" vibes from the same kava. It did however depend on the kava and more specifically how fine it was ground. The aluball doesn't squeeze your kava like you would with a strainer. It does more of a mechanical washing of the kava. That said the aluball is a lot more convenient if you are in a hurry or on the go...
