Kava Recipe Recipe of the Week.

Ok, I cheated, I'm drinking it now. So I have some Papa Ele Ele Puu Puu Ole Ole Wully Bully in the fridge. Very light color and very mellow taste (not to be confused with PapaKea which I'm saving to relieve my gardening pain on Sunday). The PEEPP is a heady Kava which is good for daytimers like myself.

I have leftovers from my other recipes. Pomegranate Juice and Pomegranate Molasses which was an impulse purchase. The Kavateers are working a theory that bitter flavors things that we like, can mask bitter flavors things we don't like (Kava aftertaste). The Pomegranate Molasses is a bitter substance but it tastes pretty good so .....

In a tall glass:
4 oz of Pomegranate Juice
A tablespooon of Pomegrante Molasses (more is better)
6-8 oz of good Light Colored and Mellow tasting Kava (already prepared of course)
4-6 ice cubes
and stir. Keep the spoon handy because the good stuff sinks to the bottom.

It's very good. It has the color purple which can mislead you into drinking too much. I'm sipping it, it tastes great. It's icceeeee cold. We are getting closer and closer to solving the problem of how to make a good drink from Kava made with powder. Now I need to do it with cheaper ingredients. Both Violet and Bulabuck are realoading (ordering Kava) for the next round. Stay tuned, same Kava Time and same Kava Channel.

CanAwa, let me give you a few tips and maybe you can experiment. First off, we have an advantage because we are using the very mellow Hawaiian Kavas. Light color and mellow taste so it is less of a challenge. But try this anyway, get a can of frozen Grape Juice Concentrate. Add a tablespoon or 2 in the Kava drink. Add a bunch of lemon or lime juice, maybe a whole lemon or lime. Add ice. Let me know the results and let me know which Kava you used. I need a color description and a taste description if you try this. I have those ingredients in the fridge and they worked good on the Papa Kea but I want to know how the yukky Kavas taste in a Kava Kocktail. Good luck!

Well I have a about 700 grams of melo melo left so I'll be using it I'm sure ..I also have about a half pound of mood and mind which is the worst so I may mix the two .I may use the mood and mind for an extraction experiment I'm cooking up tho so prob melo . I m gonna try that tho for sure . I may as well put some effort in seeing as you guys and gals are so dedicated. I also bought a pound of kava kwik to try some of your delicious instant drinks . I just honestly haven't had the time ! Although I have been drinking gingerale and cranberry with a lime wedge and the instant and it is great!

You can use Ginger Ale or any really good Soda with Instant and it will always be good. The challenge is making a tasty drink with powder. Remember, you have to add something bitter that you like to mask the bitter flavor that you don't like (but that you enjoy anyway). I have used lime and I have used Pomegranate Molasses. Hopefully you can find time this weekend to experiment.

KavaGurl. GingerAle/Sody Pop works good for instant. When using powder, you need to use concentrate, bittering agent (lime?), and ice. As you can imagine, making powder taste good is a challenge. I have been getting good color with something as light as the Barcardi Colada mix assuming I use the light colored Hawaiian. Honestly, you could do both instant and powder in 2 drinks. The instant and ginger ale to quench your thirst and the powder to take care of business. I have a tendency to drink my Kava too fast when it tastes good so be careful out their kiddies.

Kapm, I intend to get up off my a__ and put them in one document. I will let you know. I'm also putting together a spreadsheet with Kavas and their Chemotypes and my observations. I can upload this in a variety of formats. I'm trying to keep track of all the Kavas that I have had, their chemotypes and their corresponding effects. There is fixin' to be a flood of good Kavas hitting the market soon and they all have posted Chemotypes. I'm hoping to have enough information where people can say, "Hmmm, my favorite daytime Kava is a 463251 but I really dig a 462351 for pain relief." I'm going to send you what I know later on and you can add to it and send it back. Maybe we can just pass it around. Meanwhile, Kapm, set this ship to "Chill" and tell Vetka "Shields Up" as we cruise into a very chill weekend.

P.S. Anyone who creates and posts a recipe gets his name on it. Hear that CanAwa? Are you listening KavaGurl?

Well done KavaGurl. That particular combination reminded me of KoolAid that we drank when we was kids. No, not the coolaid we drank when our hair was long, I'm talking about nine years old. Back then we couldn't afford to buy coca cola. Only the rich kids drank that and they waddled to first base while we ran.:ROFLMAO:

Well done Canawa, well done indeed. We are experimenting with Chocolate and you beat us to it. With the banana in there, you have a nutritious smoothie. Could be someones lunch with dessert (Reese). Hmmm, I love Reese Peanut Butter Cup. Ok, now we need to come up with a name for your Kava Smoothie. No pressure, think about it. Something really Kewl. Everyone pitch in and help us here. Maybe a play on the Reeses brand? I need your comments on color. Did you use any ice? How about ice cream.... heh, heh, heh. Kapm, once I get all the extra info, I will formalize it.

The Kapm as set the Starship on a course to Star-awii. The cruise control is set to "Chill". Chief Engineer Vetka has all Shields Up. And so we sail silently into the weekend.

Ok well I did use ice ..I mixed it up in my bullet ..the end colour was kind of a very light brown but not so much that it looked bad ..taste was a perfect balance ..not too sweet not too bitter ..slight hint of vanilla . I'm not sure if ice cream would tip the balance and make It too sweet . I guess it depends on your own sweet tooth . As for a name I'm at a loss for the moment .. I'm thinking something to do with monkeys and kava lol I dunno " chunky waka monkey "? Like u said open to all takers

Also I'm sure if someone had some icing sugar a scoop of pb and a piece of choc that would get the job done if they didn't have a Reeses on hand..or maybe dark choc

Ah yes, we have discussed dark chocolate. It is bitter but it has the bitter flavor we like and it will mask the bitter flavor that we don't like. You catch on fast.

Ok, CanAwa, I'm ROLF. I think you are on the right track with the Monkey thing. Keep thinking on it. We have plenty of time. But I really like the Monkey thing.
