When kava has to be there quick
while the drink is still strong and tender;
is it spoon and colander, which to pick
while putting the bulb into a blender?

to press it through the sieve by spoon?

In the cloth I knead my roots, kava pairs well with fresh fruit.

Kava I brew in a wooden bowl, stored in glass, as that's how it goes.
Fresh kava tastes better than old, I like my kava hot and cold.

When just before I made the swirl
In hot water, I stirred and smashed
The clumps, the lumps, they break up and twirl
Then stir it all down to the root and mesh
From root to brew, from dry to juice
The making of the waka brew
