Strain or no strain?

I've tried both ways.

I squeezed out some root a few times, let it soak, squeezed it out some more and then strained the powdery bits out.

Then I tried kneading and squeezing the roots out for about 5-10 minutes and downing a shell without straining. I didn't use any coconut juice or lecithin, just water and squeezed the hell out of 2 tbsp of Solomon Island. Good lord was there a big difference. after I drank my bowl I just had to sit there and stare at the ceiling.

Which do you do? Squeeze- soak-strain or knead-squeeze-down it?

Wait, so you drank everything including the pulp? I was just want to make sure I understand your question.
No I took the actual wood chips out. I know we don't have the enzymes necessary to digest wood so those had to come out. What I used to do was fold over the strainer bag 3 times so it was really fine and get all the really tiny powdery stuff out or try to anyways. Doing that made it rather thin but I got into the habit of doing that.

I tried it without trying to strain out everything in the water. Hit like train.

So how did you make this Solomon? You squeezed it for 5-10 minutes and then drank it without straining? How did you get the "wood chips" out then? Sorry if I have so many questions, but if you've found a way to get more life out of your Kava I want to try!

I just scooped the wood chips out with  my hand. They're big enough were that's easy enough to do. The Solomon I bought is ground pretty fine to begin with so there wasn't much scooping that needed to be done.

When I was kneading and squeezing the kava I just mimiced the way I saw them kneading and squeezing the kava in some of the traditional  ceremonies  I saw video clips of. After that I stirred it up and then chugged some.

I found a Q&A about drinking some of the root pulp. I don't know how creditable it is.

NoneDo I need to strain my Kava?

Hmm. Yeah it seems like they are suggesting there is some nutritional benefit to eating the "fibers." I don't know, I always thought they made you sick. On another note, I drank a lot of Nakamal at Home's Wow! Kava tonight and am completely krunked. Having a hard time even typing this right now. You should try it. lol

There are SO many kavas I want to try. Wow is one of them. I'm hoping they're not out of it by the time I get my gift certificate in the mail. I might pick up some Black Sand or Togan though. I have 3 more friends that want to try it.

Wow gets you so lifted. I don't even know what to say. The last time I had it was a year ago and I guess I forgot how strong it is. It is REALLY expensive, though. For one 250 g bag it costs $35.00. Totally worth it, but make sure you buy it for a special occasion.
