Ted's Kava Kart

Kava Curious
I've been thinking of setting up a stand/mini nakamal at my local farmers market. Instead of kettle corn or churros, I'd have a kava bowl and be making Hiwa, Black Sand, Stone or something. People would like watching it. I'd have some fresh fruit like orange as chasers, and deck out the stand in a pacific/tiki vibe. I'd also have an information sheet to answer some questions, like don't mix with alcohol and don't drive if you're wobbly.
I was also thinking of something like an ice cream truck. It would be more like a food truck where I could drive to where people congregate. Concerts, campuses...
Maybe there's no demand for it in the general public, or maybe they just need to be introduced to it. Am I nuts?

I'd totally buy kava from you if you were in my town! I can't say how the general public would receive it but maybe Judd can chime in since he has a successful kava business. Cool idea, though. Good luck if you decide to go through with it! Me, I'm working on the kava "cookbook". Can't say how successful it will be but it distracts me from the other things I should be doing (smiley: smokin)

Same here, I'd seek you out. That's awesome. Wish this was more common.

I think what you'd need is sort of a "bridge" something that would appeal to non-kava drinkers that you could sell as well to get people interested. Also, if you could recruit kava drinkers in your area--if other people are there already drinking kava, then people who have never had kava before will be more willing to try it.

You could buy a bunch of green coconuts and chop them open with a machete for customers as your "bridge" :D

I've been thinking of making my usual kava using cocunut water but making it extra strong, perhaps beefing it up with some instant and mabye adding a hint banana flavoring syrup that you use to make a snowcone or smoothy and putting it popsicle trays and making some type of sweet frozen kava coconut pops. This may be a cool way to get the idea out to the public as it may greatly mask the taste that newbies may find odd but retain the mouth numbing that everyone loves. Infact the mouth melting may make it absorb into the bloodstram faster as it would be alot of sublingual absorbtion and the numbing would likely be prolific. My final sugestion for your kava kart is a parrot. I always staunchly advocate parrot ownership but in your case having a sweet parrot that says "aloha" to passers by may likely be your best advertisment possible as well as a pretty rad company rep. I recomend getting a really colorful maccaw to match your current colar scheme, either a scarlet or a harlequin would fit the bill. As an FYI walking around with a talking parrot on your shoulder is pretty much the ultimate chick magnet.

Dude, you read my mind! I've been thinking about making kava-pops too! Mine are going to be with the chocolate almond milk that I love so much - more like a kava fudgesicle. Let me know how yours come out. They sound great!

Coconut water has a lot of potassium in it you might want to check the freezing point, I'm guessing half and half with regular water is probably going to work best.
