Wanted to share an alternative source to make your Kava in the Aluball container. Last night, the mesh in my Aluball ripped. I had tons of sediment in my wash and knew something was wrong. Well, I had to improvise and wasn't up to traditional prep. I have an awesome Kava strainer bag that I got from Cactus Kava. Well, I filled it up with two tablespoons of kava, cinched the top tight and then tied up the top in a knot (not too tight to be able to undo). Put that in a half filled Aluball and mixed it with a good amount of force. Then after 30 seconds or so filled it up completely and shook a bit. It made a very nice batch of Kava. I might even start doing this more when my balls are out of commission. The Cactus Kava strainer bags are awesome. They have a really stout drawstring and this helps to be able to do this. I can't live without my Kavafied Aluballs. But, this is a good alternate solution for those times.

Nice makeshift ball! I'm inclined to think that there aren't any balls like the aluball just due to the use-case of them. Tea-balls tend to have larger holes since tea leaves tend to be much larger than medium grind kava.

My quick alternative to traditional prep is a blender. Same proportions as traditional prep, thrown into a blender on high for 3 minutes. Then I strain it through a cactus kava strainer bag and it's all set in less than 5 minutes! If I have time to spare I let it sit in the blender before running it.
