this $4.00 purchase changed my kava experience exponentially

At the recommendation of Douglas, I bought a nylon mesh strainer a while back to do a second filtering of the kava that I first knead using the cheesecloth that nakamalathome sells. 
oh my.... best $4 I ever spent.  Completely changed my kava experience for the better.

hmm, I got the Fijian strainer, Douglas mentioned in his podcast, and boy it's so much better than N@H's paint strainer. It's still going strong after a few months. It strains so much better too.

Try a women's thigh-high nylon (new of course) as a strainer bag.

If you like the KBWK one the Thigh-high will blow yer mind. (smiley: happy)

I was under the impression the strainers N@H sells are  nylon ones, correct(not cheesecloth)? Is there a big difference between that one and the one from kickbakw/kava?

I was also pondering getting a Fijian Strainer, so which one do you guys think yields the best drink?

I agree with Vekta, though I have never used a fijian and bet there amazing, womens stockings work really really well. I think I got alott more out of it cause the kava didnt get through into my batch, allowing me to squeeze more of it.

I might have to give those a try Project. At this point I'm using 2 nylon strainers at a time from N@H. I also got 1 from Kona that is like a big cloth tea bag. Now the coarser nylon ones let through some particles where as the finer one from Kona lets very few if any particles through. It might just be me but I find the coarser strain made with the nylon to have a greater effect vs the finer woven no particle drink. I'm gonna keep comparing but as of now I say the particles aren't a bad thing and add a lil kick to the effects.(smiley: wink)

I use a fijian strainer. It's cloth. Filters really well but takes a bit more effort because it's not elastic at all.

btw my fijian strainer is still going strong after months of use, where as N@H strainers last me ~3 weeks @ 2-3 uses a week before they get stretched out.

The Fijian strainers work great, I also use the strainers they sell at HKC its some kinda silk screen thats used for printing T-shirts and gets alot of the kava sand out.

If you use the Nylon ones (paint) I suggest double or even triple bagging it in order to get a finer strain. It has worked well for me in the past. I think the fijian ones are the best available though. just my $.02.
