Kava export is always part of the trade; access to the New Zealand market is there but there is still a restriction in the market in Australia.
“One cannot go to a supermarket in Australia and see kava on the shelves,” said Director Antas.
“This is something we are still fighting very hard to get access to.
“The political position on this is for Australia to give that access or at least meet us halfway, give us something.
“So far Australia has provided $500,000 for us to do some work on kava research and so forth but we are not satisfied.
“We want more than that."
