My first kavas were the Fire Island and Shaman sample packs. The Fire
Island had (and still has, after getting more) a pretty strong physical
effect, made me feel nauseous and really (pleasantly) heavy and relaxed.
However, the Shaman didn't seem to affect me at all. It also tasted
considerably milder than Fire Island (which was completely, ineffably
horrible until I tried making kava-hot-chocolate). I had the same amount
of powder with each drink, just 5g or half the packet. Doesn't everyone
find Shaman stronger than Fire Island? Perhaps its effects are just
different (ie. more mental than physical? or whatever) and I'm not feeling them for
whatever reason. Idiosyncratic reactions to kava seem pretty common, but
I'm wondering if any more experienced kava drinkers have noticed a
particularly strong Fire Island batch or weak Shaman batch.
