What if alcohol was completely replaced w/ kava?

Since most of the board members are well versed in the wonderful effects of kava I'd like to hear the knowledgable opinions of the hypothetical question of how different the world would be if alcohol was completely replaced w/ kava?

We would all be nice to eachother so that John Frum would bring us lots of presents.

Everybody would be too krunked out to commit violent acts against eachother. The coconut and skin moisturizer industries would probably become key parts of the economy.

By the way if you want a serious answer I remember a Pacific Island country having problems with violence and alcohol addiction and they instituted an alcohol tax so that kava was much cheaper. I just can't remember which one.

I believe it to be Vanuatu if I'm not mistaken. I can't remember if it was in a youtube video or on TV where I saw a special on the nakamals there and how they were a social experiment to reduce alcohol usage. Speaking of John Frum, where's Prince Phillip Lately?

In character: preparing for my brother's triumphant return to Tanna.  Someone has to help him load all the cargo.

Out-of-character: addicted to "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" mobile game.

Unfortunately, even if that were the case I'd still have a reason to continue training to be an alcohol and drug abuse counselor.

Oh heck yeah, even without alcohol you'd always have a job. My wife will be going for her masters in social work in a year or two. She works for a youth alcohol & drug outpatient center so I get to hear about all the well behaved kids on a regular basis. I regularly remind her that it takes someone with massive cahones to do what she does. She has the cahones in our relationship...the pants too.

You have to have a big heart for that job. I was one of those kids for ten years or so, until I hopped on the wagon six years ago. I've considered. That line of work, but it would break my heart and discourage me to see that every day. Twelfth step work in the past, showed me how rewarding and heart breaking it can be, at the same time

Positives: fewer social maladies, less anxiety in general, fewer people in jail, less isolation and more socialization, the list goes on and on...

Negatives: government regulation and tax, less high quality root available for the members of this forum!

I personally don't see how anyone could prefer or maybe even continue to drink alcohol after the experience of kava. There's simply no comparison. Vanuatuans for the most part don't bother w/ alcohol from what I can tell.

Imagine 20 strangers locked in room for 48 hrs with nothing but high quality bourbon.

Now imagine 20 strangers locked in a room for 48 hrs with nothing but kava.
