If you've purchased a bag of micronized 11 Year Waka recently you've likely noticed a strong, yet pleasant and not very kava like aroma when you've cracked open your bag. The growers of this kava grow very high quality ginger as well and this shipment came over on a container with that ginger. Due to ginger's potent smell, it imparted some of that smell on the kava. The result is actually quite nice, although unexpected. Because smell tends to be so closely related to taste, you get a light ginger taste when you drink this kava without actually having any ginger included. Enjoy!

Yea I was wandering about that, starting to get a little freaked out, for some reason the taste vaguely reminds me of flavored vodka for some reason, which makes shudder and feel sick just thinking about it, but the kava is exactly as good, just now ordered more.

Ginger this time, but what next? I'd be a bit concerned if the packaging they use is this permeable.
that's an insightful thought, also does anyone know if the 11 year old is maka free; makas removed before shipping or root powder sent & Judd removes them perhaps?

Lol. Jesus. They did some of their shipping and storage of the organic, noble kava alongside their awesome organic ginger. They did say that the next batch would be stored near and shipped with the heroin and nuclear waste that they also produce (organic, of course), so once they start sending those batches I'll let ya know.

No, really. These growers don't produce, store, or ship anything dangerous. They are the safest and most professional large scale kava processors, possibly in the world. This is the cleanest, most heavily tested, internationally certified kava you will ever drink.

Judd I have a strong agricultural chemical background. I've often wondered what (if any) fungicides ,nematocides or systemics are used on kava in a production area where things get out of hand once plants leave a natural setting & become farmed.

That's one of the things that's so great about kava. It is certified organic, which is extremely hard to find in a dry root product. I don't know of any others. It's also Kosher, which I think is funny that they thought was important.

Also, the powder is tested after the kava is processed and in the US. The final product that arrives at customers' doorsteps is as clean and safe as it gets.

Ok that's great news. Nematocides scare the crap out of me.

I found this on the site

This kava is micronized using a special method to produce a ridiculously fine grind and remove the least soluble root parts.

So what you're saying is that you'll be carrying nuclear waste flavored kava? I'm in.

Seriously though I've left a sealed bag sitting directly beside a clove of garlic, and I swear the taste leached through the plastic. I can immagine ginger is the same way.

That's why I am becoming more and more convinced that vacuum sealing is the only way to store kava (we've just purchased a proper vacuum sealer for our society): it drastically reduces the risk of mold growth, protects the powder from moisture and odors and keeps all the kavalactones inside the bag :)
