What's your best preparation method?

Kava Curious
Hi all.  Since I'm so new to Kava, I was wondering what your best preparation methods are.  Obviously, less root yielding more potent is the best of both worlds.  What do you recommend?  I did a cursory search, but I didn't see a preparations thread.  It might be here, but I didn't find it with a quick search.  Thanks in advance!

I'm surprised that nobody responded. Does everyone just use the preparation instructions from their favorite vendor? The reason why I'm asking is because I've seen instructions that specify as much as one cup of kava to 2 cups of water, or as little as a couple of tablespoons of kava to some number of cups of water. I'd like to use less and still get good potency, but I'm not sure what I should try.

Hey Steve, I think everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend (in the US).

Some vendors like Nakamal recommend 2 cups of water for every cup of kava, which I believe is way too much. I usually use approximately 2-4 tablespoons of kava per cup of water, depending on the potency of the kava and how I'm feeling. This has been the most effective and affordable way to enjoy kava. Of course, everyone develops their own preferences and tastes, so be sure to experiment. It's all part of the fun of drinking kava.

i never need more that 8 tbs in for one evening. I use around 50 ounces of water. Once reverse tolerance settles in, this is sufficient for me to feel it real good. I find Nakamal at home's strainer's too coarse for most grinds. The Kava powder needs to be massaged, before going into your drink. Some people use women's pantyhose or painter's sieves. Empty stomach helps feel it so much better. I like to wait until i am hungry.
