Hi all,
We are currently beta-testing our 3D-Printed Porcelain Kava Bowls. A limited amount will be available for sale soon in a variety of colors.
3D printed porcelain! Interesting. So you print the mud, glaze it, fire it, and then voila?

Is it solid, or hollow?

What's the diameter and depth of the bowl?

What's the little double-perforated hang-down bit for?

The metals are a bit out of my price range for now. Porcelain would be nice though--they're really cute!

Pretty much,

As of now it is 5" x 5" x 2"
We may break proportions and increase depth to allow more volume of Kava to be held.

The overlap is found on many traditional Kava bowls throughout the pacific. Some cultures have different meanings for them but for the most part it was used to tie a rope too so that they could hang the Kava bowl on a house post when not in use.

Please share any Kava accessories you would like to see or use and we will do our best to make them come to life. We can make things in plastic, nylon plastic, steel, various precious metals and soon porcelain. Porcelain is the only food safe material available in 3D printing because it is glazed upon completion.

The technology is finally here for food safe 3D Printing. Size is limited to the constraints of the printer. Hopefully the constraints increase soon because this really only holds about 1 shell max. We would love a full sized porcelain Kava bowl soon. Hopefully the costs to make them goes down a lot.

That would be a really cool coffee table...thing to put candy in or something and remind us of our happy root! I couldn't find a link on your site -- is it up somewhere?
