5Tbs (rounded) / 6C cold water
Prep time: 20-40min

Pre-wash:
Fill blender with 4C cool/cold water.

Use a teapot infuser with a very fine mesh to sift the smallest particles of root powder into a dry mixing bowl, then add the retained coarse material to the water in the blender.
Do this 1-2Tbs at a time, depending on the grind.
Allow the roots to soak for 15-20min.

1st Wash (4C water):
Blend three times for 30s (for my Blendtec I use the LOW setting) and strain with hemp nut-milk bag into the mixing bowl.
The fine powder from the pre-wash sifting will now be a thick mud on the bottom of the bowl: stir until it mixes completely with the water.
Transfer to half-gallon jar, pouring through the tea infuser to further minimize grit (without losing the silky sediment).

2nd Wash (2.25C water):
Add water to the mixing bowl.
Coat hands with coconut oil and knead bag (the same one used to strain) for 10-15min. When finished kneading, wring the bag out over the bowl. Transfer to half-gallon jar.

ABOVE: Normal amount of sediment that results from this method (kava used: Squanch Fijian Waka)

BELOW: Same batch, after swirling the sediment into suspension (mouthfeel should be silky smooth)
