What's new

Finally ready to try Kava. Need some advice!

Since the last time I took at look at this scene it was bit a different. Seems like there are tons and tons of vendors to choose from now, I don't even know if the Instant Kava stuff was available back then. Anyways, I am just looking for something to unwind in the evenings. I don't like alcohol but I'd have some experience with other botanicals like K@ but that's not really my thing either. Pure relaxing is my goal and even with xanax sitting infront of me at the moment so don't offer me what I am looking for. THere is something to chemical/harsh about them. I mentioned it to my physician and he said anything would be ok to try as long as I did the proper research.

Just looking for some vendor recommendations. Types to try, things like that. Boiling water preperation isn't something I'd really be into but other than that I'm open to all suggesstions!

Sorry, I have spell checker turned off :woot:

Thanks guys!

Depending on the person, pretty much any strain of kava will help you relax in the evenings so it's all about finding what you like. Try BKH's sampler pack and you'll see the differences between strains.

It all depends on what you like and how you respond to it. There aren't any real definitive answers. Typically though, strains high in DHM/DHK and the most sedating and "heavy" whereas strains high in Kavain are more "heady" and euphoric/uplifting but still relaxing for most. Boroguru is a staple of mine for "heavy" kava. I'd bet that would satisfy you but you should still try out lots of different strains because you'll see that there is a significant amount of variance in effects.

I'd give Paradise Kava Hawaiian a try. That stuff is divine relaxation. I've tried quite a few varieties and Paradise Hawaiian was a memorable one for sure.

if you're looking for one with pretty potent effects that are very relaxing, I'd give KBR's ISA a try. It's pretty potent though, so tread with caution.

edit - I should elaborate, this and one BKH are the only kavas I've sampled. I like this quite a bit more than the BKH one I had, though.

If you are new to kava and don't know about FKB and tudei kava, I'd recommend you go through these threads before ordering ISA or tudei kava.
