Kava and customs when travelling by plane

Hello,

I don't understand the french laws about Kava, can you help me ? If I travel by plane with Kava into my suitecase (in checked luggage) can I have problems with the french and other country customs or is that allowed to have it in my luggage ?

Thanks a lot

There is info on the web about it. Sounds like it may gray area maybe in France. Also, you might want to make sure it's ok in any other countries you are landing in.

There's info around the web about it. Here's one place:

Sounds like France is a bit of a gray area.

@Blackcherry

Firstly, I wouldn't trust Kona Kava for... well, anything.

That being said, just check the French laws.

In case you can't translate the page...
In France, facing the suspicions surrounding the product in the early 2000s, the French Agency for Sanitary Safety of Health Products was first suspended in January 2002 its marketing and distribution for a year, except in homeopathic form 13 . After reports of hepatic dysfunction post in January 2002, the placing on the market free of charge or for a fee, issue and its use for therapeutic purposes, or of products containing, in all forms, has been prohibited by AFSSAPS in its decision of 13 March 2003 14 . prohibition does not, however, apply to homeopathic medicinal products containing Kava at or above the dilutions 5 th centesimal dilution Hahnemann.

@Global Kava Exports can help too.

Hope everything goes smoothly.

Welcome BlackCherry! :D
There'd been a discussion previously on kava and travel but this was only in accordance with domestic u.s transportation; like infraredz has said, reading the laws themselves will do a lot of good in telling you what's safe for transfer as opposed to what's not.
I hope things go well for you and enjoy the forums. (y)

I've never flown with Kava except from Vanuatu to Australia where you are allowed to do so with 2 Kilos. The main problem is probably the fact that you are carrying a big bag of what seems to be powder and to any customs officer that will be suspicious. I know France controls New Caledonia which is south of Vanuatu and people in Vanuatu ship Kava to New Caledonia every week by air but that doesn't really help your situation.

I'm no expert on French customs or customs from any other country but a big bag of powder which numbs your mouth....any customs officer is going to think the worst.

Do you know how long you will be in the foreign country? Would it be better to order the Kava to your destination? What about trying Kava Kava Candy? In my humble opinion that would be the most innocent looking Kava product you could carry. http://kavakavacandy.com/

Sorry I can't be of more help but I will ask around and see if anyone has experience with this.

You should try flying into the USA with a big plastic wrapped kilo sized brick of tapioca. My wife and I often bring this back from Brazil in our checked bags because we can't buy it here as cheap or same quality. We always put it in a bag with only clothing because customs opens the bag every single time. When they see it their eyes light up like they won the lottery and then they realize it's not cocaine and they have a sad. Actually I've never seen them open it, but I get great amusement imagining it, :ROFLMAO:.

I've never traveled with Kava, but I don't imagine there would be any issues in the Americas with that, seeing as it's legal everywhere in these here parts of the planet, as far as I know. I would just put it in a plastic jar like they use for sports nutrition powders, I doubt that it would ever be inspected.
