Planning an Introductory Kava Session

Hello Everyone! I’ve been lurking on the forums for a while now and I really appreciate the depth of knowledge that has been shared here. It is pretty amazing to see a community built around Kava.

I’d like to introduce a couple of friends (and hopefully their friends as well) to Kava and was wondering what y’all think would make the perfect Introductory Kava Session and tips for being a host. It’s my first time with Kava as well and I’ve tried to read as much as I can. My friends, on the other hand, are completely new to Kava, and know virtually nothing about it.

I was thinking to pre-brew a heady, medium grind Kava (Squanch Fijian Waka) using the CTAHR Method, Warm/Hot milk and blender for three washes, at about 20grams per person. Hopefully, this means everyone can get right into it with a sufficiently potent Kava such that they can *feel* it as opposed to something subtler.

Definitely brief them a little on Kava, effects and a bit of it's history, so we can try to recreate the communal vibe. Planning to keep the place relatively dim, with soft tropical music playing and a PS4/cards ready in-case we feel like doing something else besides socialise. I will also be planning to have a pizza (fatty) mid-way through the session as I understand that might make for a better experience (considering we will all be drinking on empty tummies too).

Would you guys have any tips or activities to make the session even better? Or perhaps things I have missed.

Thanks for the advice!

It sounds like we should be asking you for advice because this is probably one of the most well planned kava introductions I’ve seen. Looks like you’re knowledgeable of the kava tricks. 20g / person is probably perfect with the method you’re using for prep. Be sure to ask if anyone is lactose intolerant.

Welcome aboard!

I agree that sounds great! I might add some fresh fruit or other popular "chasers" for those uninitiated to the yummy taste of our favorite dirty beverage. Pineapple is a favorite.
