Surgery coming up soon, lay off Kava?

I am going to be having shoulder surgery in a few weeks. Anyone know if I should stop kava in advance? I may be on general anesthesia for the surgery, so I wasn't sure if anyone had experience with this and if having kava in the system is bad during surgery. Thanks in advance for any recommendations on this topic!

I would take the safe route. I don't think there have been any studies to that effect. If the anesthesia is metabolized by the liver you could get yourself into a bad spot.
