I know there has been many threads about nausea because I've just read a bunch, but can't find the one where some specific kavas (from GHK I think) were recommended. Does anyone remember that thread? Or have some kava recommendations that are least likely to cause nausea? Is Nene one of them? I have tried kavas from N@H and KWK and would like to order this time from GHK. Also, I'm still confused if medium grind is better than the micro or instant for nausea. I've been reading from different sources...... TIA!

I have happily drunk Nene and Moi from GHK with never a hint of nausea. Of course, it also depends on how sensitive you are. Back when I used to be more sensitive, I found a swig or two of ginger beer (Reeds is a good brand available throughout the US) after I down a shell of kava would head 'em off at the pass as far as nausea went. It didn't so much knock out any nausea as much as prevent it from starting. Obviously it's something in the nature of ginger to be a good anti-nausea agent.

I get nausea/stomach irritation from many of the kavas I've tried. I have also tried using ginger and baking soda (not together) and I don't think they helped though much as I still felt sick. Many report nausea from Moi so I think I'll stay away from that one for the time being but maybe Nene is a gentle one? Thanks for the reply!

Sounds like we are different enough in sensitivity that nothing I say about my experience would be of any help to you, alas. Fwiw I found Moi and Nene to be equally mild and usually drink them as a 50-50 blend of the two, usually after a long day of gardening to help with any sore muscles and assure a great deep sleep. And it's a very gentle good mellow feeling, good for watching a movie before bed.

Nene is one of the mildest/smoothest kavas that is out there. I believe it was traditionally given to kids. It does give a nice gentle relaxation without a lot of headiness. I have rarely gotten nausea from kava and when I did it was from taking (way) too much microgrind all at once of Moi. Not really the Moi's fault. I have also used Nene when I wasn't really feeling well but not up to a full on session.

I used to get terrible nausea from all kava, including nene. Ginger would help some but not a lot. Eventually it went away after a year or so of regular use. Well strained medium grind was the best way for me to reduce it. Micro is by far the hardest on the stomach.

Thanks everyone! I have a 55 micron bag but still get nauseous, even with just a couple of tablespoons of grind over the course of 4 hours. It seems to have gotten worse over time but will keep with it. If I just have a low dose, the nausea isn't bad enough to cancel out the relaxation.
