Instant Kava vs Full Prep Kava ?

I mean, besides the obvious difference in preparation, what are the actual differences between Instant and non-Instant ?
The full prep must have some great advantages, if so many people are willing to do so much more work to make it.
Does it simply have more potent and pronounced effects, or different types of effects ?
How are they different ?

If you're talking about legitimate instant kava and not micronized kava, instant kava is ridiculously expensive for small packages.
Effects-wise instant can feel a bit cleaner, lighter and more like fresh 'green kava'. (which is the best) Traditional prep, regular medium grind is more cost effective, especially for those who drink regularly. It offers a pretty full spectrum kava experience, but might be a little harder on your stomach, especially if you don't strain it well.

Thank you for the great explanation.
Can you tell me what you mean by "full spectrium kava experience" ?
Also, I'm not sure about the legitimate instant kava vs miconized.
So, the "legitimate" is much more expensive, but what is the quality of the cheaper micronized like ?

Well Chris from Gourmet Hawaiian kava actually has a really cool post on here. You can Google is micronized and instant more cost-effective than medium grind and find the thread. The thing is medium grind includes all the maka's which have very little kava lactone content. Now for many people there's an almost spiritual connection with the traditional prep method. The needing the whole process is very traditional it's a ritual. I think bang for your buck micronized maybe the best form of kava. Plus it's also a lot more instant gratification. I just got done doing several hours on and off of prep. Started when I got home at 7 tonight and just finished making my last batch.

One last point if you choose to only go with micronized you severely limit your ability to taste all the amazing kavas that are out there. Some of my favorites are only available in medium grind. There are only a few vendors who make legitimate Maka free micronized. Gourmet Hawaiian kava was one of the first Mike at kalm with kava has some great micronized in fact my first experience with micronized was with some of his. Bula kava house has a great reputation. I just ordered some of their new Tongan medium grind but again by the time I got on their website all their micronized was out of stock.

Thanks I didn't realize that so many taste varieties were available.
more like "effects varieties" although there's a fairly wide range of tastes and textures and bouquets out there.

I've found over time that I've become more sensitive, and more appreciative, of the nuances in good kavas. And it gets easier to drink. Tonight I strong trad prepped Squanch which I am drinking straight, no chaser, and loving it. Three months ago I couldn't imagine doing that in a million years. I would have run away screaming in terror. I would have drunk it, but there would have been sturm und drang, not num-nums like tonight.

I can vouch for kalm's micro. It works like a charm. I'm planning on ordering again soon.

I'm still confused by all the different variants and effects though. It can be a bit overwhelming. Just learning the lingo can be daunting lol

After my first drink I understand what "heady" means though. I'm hoping to find one with more body and one for just sitting back and wanting to zone out with my PlayStation

learn about chemotypes and what the different kavalactones will do to you. Here's the thing they all may affect us differently so you're best off trying stuff yourself. But you will get an idea of what certain varietals and certain chemotypes can be expected to do and therefore kind of I guess hone your search.
