Karrying kava into kanada

Anything I need to know about carrying kava into Canada for personal use?

I figure a pound or two of GHK, unopened, since it's US produce, clearly marked. Should be OK, right?

Any problem experiences with anyone? I'd sure hate to have some nice expensive root get confiscated.

I have been across the border many times (driving) but always left the kava at home. Didn't want the hassle of having to get pulled out of my car, inspected, and possibly detained and questioned for long periods. I doubt it is an issue - but it just wasn't worth my time or hassle. This is with the knowledge that off all the times I have crossed the border (20+) not once did they do anything but ask me a bunch of mundane questions.

Only problem with their packaging is a lack of details on it. Youd probably be hassled less with something like kwk which is clearly marked as a dietary supplement or something.

If your up north for a while, ship it to yourself in adv for when you get here :D but keep in mind our customs is suuuper slow. I get Kava mailed to me though, never any problems with customs, should be fine. Might have to go in to declare it and get it checked out though.

Kava is not illegal in Canada, so shouldnt be to big of an issue.

Should be no problem, as kava is legal. Just avoid packaging it in weird ways. If it looks like drugs it will attract extra scrutiny.

Long ago, my biggest Canadian customs scare was on a road trip to Montreal where I had packed a picnic lunch. While in line at the douanes, it occurred to me that I was SMUGGLING ORANGES INTO A FOREIGN COUNTRY... so I sheepishly admitted to the customs lady that I had oranges and would it be alright to just toss them out on the US side. She just laughed and waved me through. Canada is not California, haha.

Where are you headed?
Crossing at Sarnia, headed to Montreal. I'm a dual national. Visiting my son who is in grad school at McGill, and old friends in Montreal from when I used to work for VIA. I have been going to Montreal a few times a year for the past 5 years but this is my first time with kava on board. I looked to see if there is anywhere in Montreal to find kava but couldn't find anything definite other than scouting out depanneurs in ethnic neighborhoods eventually, after trying 30 or 40 I might find some iffy ancient tudei covered in dust.

Kava use is legal in Canada. I think the restriction is that it can't be sold within Canada, so no kava bars or kava being sold for retail (That part I'm not 100% sure about).

If it were fresh kava you may have something to worry about, just like fresh fruits and veggies can't be taken in.

I actually just crossed the border with a Bula Kava House bag of Waka about two hours ago. They didn't even look in the car, but I wasn't worried about it. As others have mentioned, just leave it in its original labeled packaging, so it's not some mysterious brown powder.

I'm in Whistler. Come up and I'll share some shells with you.

It's a good weekend to be up here. Two Ironman races, so there's a lot going on in the Village.
Man, any other weekend and I'd be up there in a flash, but this weekend is just packed. Im waiting on kava deliveries which makes this even more tempting hah.
Sounds like a great weekend to be up there, have a good one and if you're ever heading up here again we should get a little kava circle going with Paulie on the beach.

I've been up here this time for the last three years, so there's a good chance we could make that happen. That'd be awesome.

Let me know if you change your mind and decide to come up.
