I introduced a friend of mine to kava, who is a little squeamish about the taste, and potentially throwing $50 at something they couldn't get down. So I introduced them to kava candy, not knowing they were sensitive to sorbitol. Now, I've had stomach issues with large amounts of sorbitol, but never had any problem with kava candy. I've eaten an entire pack, no issue. I kind of figured there's not really that much actual sorbitol in them. Has anyone actually had any serious distress from eating kava candy? My friend had a single tablet and was fine.

Most seem to tolerate sorbitol well but as with anything - eat a lot and you might have problems. It really depends on if a person is sensitive or not to sorbitol. Always best to just try a little bit and see how it goes if you assume sorbitol might be an issue. Hope this helps :)

I eat these things like tic taks! No problems. Waiting for the Kava kava candy cereal! A good breakfast for a really good day!

I am okay with a reasonable amount of sorbitol, but sugar alcohols affect people differently. For example, maltitol (favoured in many sugar free chocolate bars) will cause me real gastric pain and distress.

He IS sensitive to sorbitol, but tried two now with no issue. He's a heavier set guy, so I might be inclined to assume that his last experience with it was an over-consumption issue. (Love him to death, but NGL to myself here, lol.) ...At any rate, he was floating mildly for a whole day on two tablets. Seems like he's a "cheap date" for kava anyway, so hopefully won't even need more than 2-3 tablets at any point. :) I know we've discussed this before, though, about a regular kava candy. Are you guys still considering that? I mean, I certainly wouldn't flinch at a snack's worth of calories for kava candy. I realize it's a manufacturing thing, though, if I remember right?
