Looking for Strong Kava

Alright so it's about that time to stock up on some new varieties and considering I'm fairly new to kava, I don't have the right proper knowledge as to what I should look for that would fit my interests. All I know is I prefer my kava strong with more sedating effects though I wouldn't mind a strong 50/50 strain either--meaning a mix of both strong sedative/body and heady effects. Some of you may recommend lighter strains to start out since I'm more of a beginner but I can tell you that the first kava strain I went with was Wow from N@H and it went very smoothly for me with hardly any problems, and needless to say it was greatly pleasurable and potent at the same time. The tingling body sensations were phenomenal and my mind felt heavenly.
Can you guys list a few varieties that might fit these needs? I'm hearing Koniak, Stone, Chief's, and Solomon are worthy for awesomeness, along with Wow. Also, please provide some details about the strains you recommend, for instance: the unique effects each one gave you as well as the taste factor.

Much appreciation,
Bert

I just gulped down about 6 oz. of Wow after a day of Melo Melo and I'm still wondering if there are any noble Kavas that taste this good that are DHM based. So yeah, Melo Melo fits in the taste category but it is a heady Kava. All us daytrippers like it. I reviewed Melo and it seemed like it was a small notch below Solomons which is also a heady kava. And the Fiji from BKH is also heady. So everyone here likes Boroguru from BKH for a DHM type Noble Kava and the price is right. If you look at the N@H web site, they say that Wow is a mixture of Borogu and Borguru with fibers taken out to make a more potent Kava. Check out the review section in the main forum menu for more ideas. And keep us posted with what you find.

Boroguru is actually a DHK kava
but yes it is sedating, tastes pretty good, potent, cheap, and some good heady effects,
its also coarse, so no nausea

Stone kava from Nakamal @ Home. Hands down (for me) the strongest and most consistent kava I've had. Find a couch quick with this one.

Koniak, if you're okay with drinking tudei-ish kava, is the cheapest and most potent there is.

Stone is the most potent sedating noble kava I've had, but it's also prohibitvely expensive IMO and has the nastiest taste. I recommend just buying boroguru and using more of it. Much more cost effective. Boroguru is not, pound for pound, the most potent kava, but it's noble and very cost effective.

50/50 type kava? Probably easier to buy dhk and kavain dominant kavas and mix them together. Boroguru/melo melo is basically my "house blend" at the moment.

I agree with this completely. For the "body" side of things, just use a slightly higher amount of Boroguru than you would have with Stone (and you'll still be saving money) and as far as a very heady/potent strain, I've found nothing better than Nambawan. It's super potent, very cerebral and just all around awesome. That's one that's worth the price definitely.

I finally got MeloMelo and while I love the effects, I cant stand the taste of it. I dont know why but other kavas taste more or less bearable comparing to Melo. Taste makes me nauseated right away.

I've actually been getting nausea right away from melo too which is quite distinct compared to others, but it always goes away after a few minutes. It might be due on my part to my gulping technique (I gulp an an entire cereral bowl down at once so there's probably that) :p

Well, I almost puked in a middle of a supermarket after I decided to get some food following Melo consumption. Now I just mix it with Boroguru or Vanuatu3. I realized that zetawize kava from amazon is actually MeloMelo as soon as i smelled a bag from BKH. Other kavas I gulp down without blinking but this one is just soooo nauseating

Yikes, too many different possibilities. I was leaning towards going with Stone even before I made this post but now that I'm hearing the taste is nasty hinders me. Kava in general is hard to put back as it is, let alone putting back the nastiest tasting one...I think I'll pass. Seems like blending strains is a solid way to 50/50 a batch (kavain and dhm) so I was thinking getting Solomon for my high kavain (since I've read fantastic things about it on Kavasseur) , though I still need another good dhm strain to synergize nicely with this. Any good combinations any of you have tried with Solomon in the past? I might just end up with Boroguru.

@kavadude, what do you mean by tudei-ish kava when describing Koniak?

Well, tudei kava = two-day which Vincent Lebot recommends against drinking. Judd says it's not tudei, but it presents a similar color to tudei kavas when dissolved in a solvent. I can tell you it's a pretty heavy hitting kava and not one you want to drink daily if at all.

Gotcha kavadude, for now I'll probably leave that one alone. Btw, did anyone buy any of N@H's most recent batch of Solomon--from their Sept. 30 shipment? I'll be trying it out either way but just curious.

I just ordered Solomon's from the same batch that you ordered from as well. I'm curious also, considering that I've never tried Solomon's before.

@yep, I'll have to give that one a try eventually. For this time around I think I'll be choosing Solomon for sure, some Nambawan, and Koniak. I'm anxious to see how both of the latter two mix with the Solomon. Has anyone ever tried mixing more than two strains at once, like a tbsp or more of each strain in your supply?...Kinda like a party mix. That'd be interesting.

Infra, since you and a few others spoke highly of the Nambawan and Boroguru combo, I decided to go ahead and get a batch of Boroguru as well, along with the previous batches. So far I've ordered Solomon, Nambawan, Boroguru, and Koniak and looks like I should be set for a wild ride ahead these next few weeks:cool:. Thanks guys for all the input.

I understand that ZetaWize KAVA is a proprietary mix made up of mostly Boroguru/melo melo/etc. While stronger than most there's no doubt that its the finest milled kava on the planet. Vanautu doesn't export tudei officially and the powder must therefore be of the NOBLE varieties. The KAVA Lounge use to serve this kava for years. If kava is too strong you generally dilute it more when making it up. This ZetaWize KAVA has its roots on in America for over 15 years and is one of the early providers of milled kava. Having said that, Different Stokes and different tastes comes with Kava. Solomon and Fiji brands generally are not the same culivars as Vanautu types which have higher kavalactones. Taste is on the tongue of the drinkeer!
