Kava in the UK

Hi there

My name is Nik and I am new to this site. I have recently given up alcohol and turned to meditation to relax. This is working to unwind. However, for social occasions and to relax further, someone suggested Kava. I hear so many incredible stories.

I tried this a while ago but it had no effect on me whatsoever and so I believe the vendor wasn't reliable. Can anyone suggest a legitimate supplier who can deliver to the UK or is UK based? If Kava is the answer to my prayers (!) I may be looking for a regular supply.

My preferred effect for sociable occasions is stimulating and euphoric if at all possible. For quieter occasions, relaxing and calming.

Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated so much. I look forward to joining this clearly welcoming and knowledgable community of like-minded people.

Welcome to KF, there aren't any UK vendors because as of right now kava is illegal in the UK for human consumption, however, it's a wonderful remedy for your stressed out pets. :) @Edward is an UK distributor and can offer some help getting it to you. In regards to further advice, I encourage you to read our FAQ's.

Thank you so much for the advice. Thank goodness as I have two daxxies who are very stressed in this heat!
How do I reach Edward? I have tried to see his profile page but there's no way to follow him or pm him? I hope you, or someone, can advise further?

Hey Nik, I'm new to Kava too, and turned to it for exactly the same reasons as you! I'm only a couple of weeks in but currently I'm not feeling it is anywhere close to the potency of alcohol both in terms of euphoria or relaxation. I also have very little effects from it, and kind of overdid it on my second session as was getting a bit frustrated with it which resulted in going dizzy and nauseous. The next day was like an awful hangover that lasted all day - I think they call that getting 'krunk' on here!

Then I found out there is something called reverse tolerance (RT) that a lot of people have to go through - a very odd thing where you don't really get any effects at first but as you continue consuming moderate amounts day after day it starts to work. I'm not there yet but am willing to give it a good try. I expect an awful lot of people not in the know will try it once and give it up saying it doesn't work.

Even so, I still don't think it will ever be that comparable to alcohol in terms of effects and you probably need to align your expectations to that. I'm guessing Ed on here has already been in touch and can recommend him for supplying to your pets. The aluball makes prep a doddle too.

It is comparable to alcohol but better in virtually all ways. For one thing, alcohol really does a number on your liver, makes you fat, leads to bad decision, messes with sleep and rem. Ok, not one thing, Spanish Inquisition.

Krunk should not feel bad, I think you just mildly overdosed. No harm done, now you know what line not to go over. RT happens but with patience you will get there. The percentage of people “immune” to kava’s good effects is remarkably small. As you say, many just give up too soon because of what is too long or too unpleasant a learning curve for the. Some get lucky and have no RT.

In many ways you really can replace alcohol with kava. Relaxation, mild intoxication, social calming, sociable drink to share, help with sleep. In many ways kava succeeds where alcohol tries and fails. Can you have a nice weekend night downing she’ll after she’ll instead of pint after pint? Yes, once you master the pacing.

Kava is so so much better than alcohol in all the ways Keunkie says. With alcohol you had to learn how to drink that, the same with kava save all the bad life effects. Stay as well hydrated as you can and make room in your budget for kava. Those two things have been my personal biggest downfalls. I take an electrolyte supplement, but haven’t heard of anyone else on here needing to do that.

I tried to post a long response about how much more awesome it is than alcohol and stuff but then lost it haha! Oh well. Welcome and yes keep at it. There’s an entire thread about quitting alcohol and kava with some really inspiring stories. Some of them have really moved me.

Hi Nik well done on giving up the booze, I keep meaning to get round to it myself
realkava.com ships to uk they also said never have any problems with customs charges
