Kava powder storage

Is it best to store your kava powder in the cupboard or pantry?
would it keep better in the fridge?
I just purchased for the second time a kilo of my favourite traditional kava powder. It will last me about 6 weeks. I’ve notice the effect stronger from the new pack. But again, I’m assuming there will be some differences between batches.

Properly dried kava is quite stable* if packed in airtight, ideally shrinkwrap. Can last that way for months. Depending on where and what you bought...I'd suggest (after opening) just keep it in the freezer.
*fixed, steadfast. not changing or fluctuating : unvarying. permanent, enduring.

If you are going to consume it within 30 days, a ziplock bag kept in the fridge should keep it in very good condition. For longer storage, vacuum packing or vacuum packing plus keeping the bag in the freezer may be your best options, depending on your climate. Moisture is the enemy. (n)

I buy Vanuatu kava from a reputable vendor, it comes in a ziplock bag and closes well but I will keep in the freezer from now on. It's been quite wet and humid in Australia this year .

Thank you. I think I'll just keep those Kavalactones fresh in the freezer :) even though the package comes in a good quality ziplock bag, it has been raining so much in Australia, the humidity index is high.
