I decided not to use the full review form for this, since I never used more than 2 Tbsp of it in a session and have also never had any other instant kava to compare it to. I'm not sure what the equivalence of 2 Tbsp of this instant equals in relation to dry root powder, but I suspect it might be about 2x (or more) the potency of it's regular root counterpart.
I mixed up 2 Tbsp into 1 cup of water and took a few sips off of it. Surprisingly, I quickly felt some mild and pleasant kava effects come on from just a few sips. Over the next 30-45 mins I finished the full cup and it bumped up my level of comfort and relaxation a bit with a nice little hint of spaciness. Once I was sure the effects leveled out I ended up drinking my regular root mix. I get the feeling using a few more Tbsp of the instant could get me all the way there. As it seemed to be a bit stronger, off such a small amount, than I was expecting from an instant...but I didn't have a lot to play with. So I used it sparingly.
The effects felt like the beginnings of my experience with the Vanuatu-Regular grind, which makes sense with this small of a dosage. (My typical dosage for dry root is 8-9 Tbsp) The flavor was pretty mild, a lot cleaner, and more watery than regular root powder. I didn't feel the euphoric kavain blast that usually get's associated with 'instants', but admittedly, my brain isn't very receptive of kavain anyway The effects that stood out most were a quick pleasant contentment and relaxation with an added looseness to the body (but without 'muscle melt') and slightly altered head space.
I probably wouldn't use this as my nightly kava, but I can see it being very useful to have on hand for times when you want relief in an instant. Another usage I enjoyed it for, was mixing up small spoonfuls of it after I had already finished my usual batch of root. You can feel it add a minor boost and extension to your experience. Which is useful and convenient, especially when you're already fairly rooted.
