Kava Preparation Noueky's Bubble Bag Method

For me the bubble filters have made the whole straining process much more sane. I actually enjoy it a bit now, started straining root powder with it as well.
I've alternated between blending high speed and liquefying with the 25 micron and finally have come to the conclusion that liquefying on high is the way to go.
I also mix the powder or micro in the blender with very hot though not boiling water and have found I get better potency as well. I normally make a gallon at a time as I've got some of the bottles for storing which Deleted User01 recommended to me.

I've also purchased a bigger blender which holds half a gallon of water at a time. So I now bring a gallon of tap water to a boil and let it cool a bit, then mix half of that with kava in the half gallon blender. Knead and squeeze though the bubble micron slowly, takes about 10 minuets. Then pour the remaining half gallon of hot water from the stove into the bubble bag and repeat.

Finally make sure the bottles are sterile using food grade hydrogen peroxide and funnel the kava into the 16oz bottles

Although this is not the exact company I used, it is nearly identical and I posted this one because the company I went through does not sell them individually. The bottom of mine is now totally yellow, but I always clean it after use with food grade hydrogen peroxide.

Great Thread @Noueky !!!
Please, if you have the time to edit your post, include a pic of the bubble bag you are using, plus any pics you may have of your process (y)

Oh forgot to say...
If you do post some pictures, please put them in the first post of this thread (i.e. don't make new posts for them). Thanks....

It's just a filter bag made for extracting, um, other substances. I can see how they would be useful as, unlike fijian strainers or random household items, they are given a specific size in microns.

I love your method and I promise I'm not attempting to criticize your process but some advice I have is I've read before that tap water and the minerals in tap water can possibly destroy kavalactones though I don't have the references available atm (sorry).

Other than that this sounds like an awesome way to prepare grog...or maybe make instant kava. ::awesomesmiles::

It's interesting that you should bring that up I drink only spring water because distilled water may rob the body of minerals.
In the past I've always prepared my kava with spring water as well. I drink about a gallon of spring water a day and thought it wouldn't matter to use tap water as I decided this small amount of water throughout the week would not matter; although I personally would not drink tap water without boiling it unless I had a filter.

I've not noticed any reduction in potency but I would be very interested in any information on this. It would seem the minerals in spring water would be a problem as well, leaving us stuck buying distilled water to make our kava.

Nah I honestly I do use purified water and I can be sure that there's added minerals, maybe it would've been better to state that there's *something about* tap water that I've read which says it "might break down the kavalactones" . If it's been working for you the whole time and everyone else than it shouldn't be a large issue at all.

I was just throwing it out there and if I can find the article to reference then I'll truly consider what I was saying but regardless, if it ain't broke don't fix it and ignore my little bit of info for now.;)
@HeadHodge Hahaha, yeah I was speaking from bits and pieces of what I remember so hell if I know if it's really true. If anyone finds an article proving for sure that tap water does any harm (to kavalactones) I'd also like to know. (y)

Oh thank you very much @HeadHodge you've reminded me of another important point.
Even if tap water does nothing to harm kava, it's very likely to do harm to you.
Here's an article to go along with the ones you've posted Headhodge.

It outlines many of the dangers of tap water all in one.

You know I can't remember the last time I've drank tap water, probably years and unless there's a high quality filter the the faucet I likely never'l again. (y)

Oh and this isn't necessarily targeted towards you Noukey, as you've said you drink spring water often but anyone who drinks it as there go to water source will benefit from this type of Info. ;)

@Noueky I'm curious, if you use this basic approach but with much less water, can you use these filters as an effective way to make thicker micro syrup?

I don't like to step on Deleted User01's toes when it comes to micro syrup he gets a little fussy when people chime in Deleted User01 where are you

@Noueky. You brew a gallon at a time? I guess you will be the first Kraft Kava Brewery on the Forum. Hey everyone, Kava Keg party at Noueky's.:ROFLMAO:

@MikeB. I did 1/2 tablespoon of Mahakea Micronized at around 11:00AM as an experiment. I should have started earlier. It's working pretty good. I normally take a Siesta after lunch but I'm still alive and hopping. The siesta thing can be dangerous with Kava. I'm going to try that measured approach the rest of the day. That ended up being one quick gulp and done.

Ok, for those of you who missed the last Kava Keg Party at Noueky's, we got happy and in the spirit of camaraderie and good fellowship, we sang the Bula Song.

Kava Who?
Here is an Old still I made several years ago. Its a rich part of my culture, and history. Any way for legal perpouses, we will say im destilling my own destilled water. I don't trust the water companies;). Anyway, how could this be used to make large amounts of kava. Probably don't need the condenser, which is made from a 5 gallon bucket, a few connectors, 20 foot of copper tubing, and some good ol JB wield. But the boiler is 16 gallons. See what happens when you don't get to town much, you build weird things like this. But This is an art my granddad taught me. Distilling water, that is. Anyway, can we use this thing to make big batches of kava in some way? Also could use one of those 1940s washing machine, with the roller on top. Just shooting ideas. Much love. Roaddog....

It looks a little like the stuff I use for Home Brewing Beer. All you need is some grains and some yeast and who knows what might come outta there.

Sure, only thing is, this brewer, will put out (Beer) at 95% alcohol, or 180 proof. This is a basic "pot Still". But One must use what is called a distillers beer, other wise known as whiskey mash, to achieve desired results. So I have been told. As I only distill water ;). Check this one out. Here's one I built out of a old crock pot, and 2 foot of copper tubing. The worlds cheapest still. But it works great. Cute little thing isn't it. Much love. Roaddog....

You @Roaddog, @Deleted User has his experiment going on, but I remember "somewhere" that the reason you shouldn't cook kava above a certain temperature is that it "boils" off the kavatones. Since you have the no how, I think it would be a totally awesome experiment if you could boil off the kavatones into a steam water/kavatone mixture and reclaim it with your "water" distiller. I'm not joking here, I would be willing to donate as much kava as needed for that kind of experiment.
(p.s. say hi to Mrs.Skunk for me :) )
