Powdered Kava Review Borongoru

Gourmet Hawaiian Kava

I could not wait to try this kava when I got it in the mail. The first thing I did was open it up and smell it. It is funny I do that with all my kava, I love to smell a good kava and this kava smelled real nice, it has a typical Vanuatu kava smell, I have been in kava for over 25 years and I have smelled a lot of kava. I can say that I smelled only good kava, no old age (indicating it was sitting around for some time), no mold, no chemical smell from being treated with methyl bromide to pass inspection. This stuff smelled real fresh and needless to say I was ready to make a drink at this point.
I made my kava drink and after the first few drinks I could feel that typical high quality Vanuatu kava effect, I could tell this was high in kavalactone #4 the best one of all. I have tried just about any kava you can find on the market, and I do mean any one from any vendor I can find and I have the empty bags to prove it, I like a good kava, (not all of them were good but I have to try) what can I say I love a good kava. So I feel confident in giving a well qualified review. (y)
After about 15 min I noticed that my muscle pain was not bothering me and I was in fact in the land of kava, I was right where I wanted to be. It made me even more happy to get a Vanuatu kava like they used to have in the old days, there was a lot of good kava back then, not just Boroguru but others like this one and that was a bit part of the fun of getting a new kava and trying it out.
When you get a chance to try all the good Noble kava's out there you will start to see little differences and some you will like better than others and that by no means says that I do not like the others it just says after trying so many you will find your few favorites and you will find the effects you like the best and this kava is a good one in my book. I will be back for more. Aloha.

Great review Chris! How many times do you see a vendor reviewing another vendor's Kavas and giving it high reviews. Hmmmm .... I'll get back to you on that one (hint-Never). Thank you Kalm, GKE, and GHK for showing the other vendors that you can get Noble Kava if you make an effort. So now we have 3 vendors selling noble kava and the other ones arguing about it. One more thing, GHK has set the bar high and now we are seeing the other vendors respond. And they said it couldn't be done .... Thanks for that Chris. You set a good example for the rest of the Kava Industry and the world of Kava Drinkers will reap the benefits.

I hear ya Headgie, it sure sounds good but I'm so spoiled on Micronized and Instant that I've lost my will to Blend and Knead. Sighhhh ....;)

Love. Like. Crazy.
I have to admit when I saw your review I knew this was one that I wanted to try. I just got this kava today and I have to say I am impressed!Usually I'm not into piney drinks .(I'm still fairly new to the kava world but am slowly getting adjusted to the taste.) This one, however, is really not a bad tasting kava despite the pineyness.Plus I am really enjoying the effects!Good stuff!

I don't know how I missed this review. First time I've ever seen a vendor review another vendor. Nice!

Borongoru,

I just finished my first few shells of (KWK) Borongoru... I must admit though I cheated first... I had to micronize it before sampling... Now(2 or more hrs latter) after several teaspoons mixed throughout about 3 shells I've been feeling great... Wouldn't want to over do now lol

I also back up what Chris is saying, so fresh it seems like it was harvested yesterday lol! mmm ah!

Thanks Mike(KWK) for another great Kava! Keep up the hard work.

Bula, as I think I'll be drinking another shell \__/

Hi Steve,
Here is a post I put up showing the Makas / fibers removed and explaining it further.
Yes the fibers can be ground up in a ultra fine micro mill, although this is not regarded as safe, because you are then drinking all of the compounds inside of the makas... those compounds are not commonly regarded as safe, desirable nor containing high levels of kavalactones.
Steve the vendors that are safely processing micro invest a lot of time & money into the proper equipment and will generally gard their exact process carefully, and at the same time they are truly removing the Makas/Fibers.

What Is Micronized Kava... and Is It Worth It?

Here is a post I put up earlier this month

I agree with you Chris... the Makas do not belong in "true" micronized kava.

Fantastic, Mark! Great to see your level of commitment to high quality kava!

Do you do maka removal post-grind? I didn't know that could be done!

Steve,

I do not grind the makas at all, they are completely removed.
About all i can do with them is do a quick rinse for personal use and or just toss them.
I much prefer drinking micro though, as there is no grit & is much quicker to prep.
