New Boroguru Micronized Kava

I just received my order of boroguru micronized kava. The wife and I are new to kava and up to this point we had only had a tincture from Terra Firma. We felt like it helped us rest and really liked it but upon reading about issues with extracts and liver damage I felt it would be better to go a different route.

What would you recommend for good way to prep the micronized kava? We made some tea and she put in a tablespoon and I put in two tablespoons and it didn't work out too well. It didn't mix well and the taste was out there. She took one sip and that was it lol. I finished mine and my tongue went numb, which I heard is normal. Most of the preps I have read so far have been about medium grind and not micronized.

as stated in the comment directly above yours, you simply mix micronzed kava in whatever water or juice you're using and drink it.

if it doesnt mix well, mix it better, and keep it stirred every time you chug.

if it doesn't taste good, just remember you're drinking kava, and kava doesn't taste good.

enjoy

You're in for a treat with the real thing, man. It's the difference between a good burger and a well aged porterhouse steak. Apologies to vegetarians for my meat analogy, but it's the best comparison I can draw.

Yeah I saw that post but I was wondering if there were other prep methods. I have since found quite a few including one for a syrup. As I said I am not worried about the taste, it is just my wife who won't go near it.

I tried it with some coconut milk and that seems to work great.

Just in case you haven't found the Kavapedia, there is a slew of recipes there. Just substitute the instant in the recipe with your micro.

Just got 1/2 a pound of the micronized Boroguru in the mail today, going to make myself a Kava-colada {^_^} looking forward to writing up a review tomorrow. This is my first order of the micronized; I've been ordering the medium grind from everyone and drinking the grog. It's one of those situations where I put up with the awful taste for the pleasant effects. Chris was kind enough to include a sample of the micronized Nene with my last order of Mahakea, and while I didn't care much for the Nene (didn't really do much for me) I loved how simple the prep was and the taste is leagues better.

@Gourmet Hawaiian Kava Considering the state of emergency on the island, is it advisable to stock up on boroguru? Or has it been confirmed that the supply is going to be okay? (Needless to say that this isn't a real issue compared to what has occurred there.)

That is a good question, we will not know the answer to that for a year or so. It will take about 3-4 years for them to get back to normal when it comes to the kava export. We will not know if they are going to run out till we see what the market demands, I know people that are stocking up so they will not run out. I have stocked up on my supply but I will not know how long it will last. The good thing is that I have plenty of Hawaiian kava growing that I will be able to supply to everyone. :hungry:
When we are talking about kava from Fiji or other places, these other places will start to take up the demand that Vanuatu can not supply. This will put a strain on the kava market all around, for example, in Fiji they import more kava from Vanuatu than they export of there own Fijian kava.
So since they import from Vanuatu they will not be getting as much kava from Vanuatu and that means they will start to keep more of there Fiji kava for themselves. This storm in Vanuatu was a blow to the kava market but it will rebound. I hope this answers your question. Aloha.
