Getting the most out of micro?

Kava Curious
I've been drinking micronized kava from GHK for about a month now. I have a certain routine that "works" for me, but if I deviate from it I either get no effects or I get nausea. Basically, 2 table spoons in hot water on an empty stomach in one cup. I get really strong effects for about an hour, after that I get a kind of brain fog that lasts for 8 hours +. I've tried eating after it starts to wear off and then trying another 2 table spoons a few hours after that, but it made me extremly nauseous, for hours. It doesn't feel like the nausea is from my stomach, but rather from my head. I've tried 2 table spoons in cold water, or with any food in the stomach and got no effects whatsoever. Also, I have trouble sleeping and staying asleep, even if I drink the Kava very early in the day. I'd like some advice on how to make the good feeling last longer, without getting nauseous, and maybe some advice re sleep. It's very nice, but it's very short lived. At this time i'd like to stick to micro or instant for convenience sake. I've got some instant on the way actually and will be comparing the experiences.

I usually try to drink some ginger ale along side my kava, and eating a bit of fruit between shells seems to help with nausea. I've almost always slept well with kava, but I consume a bit more than that. Hope that helps.

Have you tried a variety? Sounds like you are drinking a heady stimulating kava like Moi. GHK has a hand full all over the chemotype spectrum. Different effects, duration, and some may work better for you than others.

Might consider experimenting with a blend to find your sweet spot. You may need a heavy kava instead of heady if sleep is an issue. They also tend to last longer. If your trying to eat to extend the experience I would make it a snack or small meal preferably spicy and/or fatty. I never found much difference between micro and instant besides using a little less at a time.

THanks for the replies!

I take ginger pills, but they don't do much. The sensation is really that it's not my stomach being upset, but just my head getting dizzy. For sleep I've been making myself sleep less, and my sleep seems to be improving.

I've tried nene, mahakea, moi and combo of all those. These seem to be the only ones GHK has in instant and micro form (i could me mistaken though). Do you use less with instant?

Try 1-1.5 tbsp instant if you are using 2 tbsp micro. I would say it is only slightly more potent, but I found it smoother both taking it down and in effects. Have you tried any extracts? They could help you keep things going in combination with your grog.

I've never tried extracts, but that is an idea. I just got my instant today and tried 1.75 tbsp of nene--empty stomach, hot (150 degree) water, etc--and it felt pretty mild. 2 tbsp of nene micro with those conditions usually has my ears ringing and my head spinning. I then (about 30 mins later) ate some pork with hotsauce and garlic and it didn't do anything. Oh, I did feel the same sort of queezy feeling from the instant that I feel from micro though, which further reinforces my belief that it's not about the stomach, but about the kavalactones in the head that cause the nausea.
