So I got my instant kava from GHK and man oh man was it a small amount for $20... It's like 3 packets of swiss miss combined, if that.

When I ordered the root from paradise kava it cost me around 30 bucks but lasted a whole month. I doubt this will even last me a week. What a fucking rip off.

Not sure I'll order from these guys again, but for future reference dealing with any vendor I guess I should just forget about instant then and just go micro like I had been planning? Do you get more for your dollar when you order micro? That's what I'm trying to figure out...

You use far less instant than you do micronized or raw dried root.

The process for making instant is labor intensive and some of the setups used to make it can be rather expensive and complex in order to get a uniform product.

Instant is expensive in general because of this. It's a product of conveniences. You just throw some in water and poof...kava drink.

I'm going to have to defend Chris on this one. He didn't rip you off...sorry you feel that way. He grows and preps the kava in house. He puts a lot of time and effort into the kava he sells.

More convenience = more cost. I've purchased random amounts of instant from Chris before and felt that I definitely got my money's worth. Sometimes I just don't feel like squeezing that bag.

Also, bang for buck ratio is higher with the micro. I just don't buy micronized kava because it upsets my digestive tract (yes, even without the makas)

I agree with everyone, I have always felt I got plenty of Instant Kava for the money. However, I also agree that Micronized is a lot more potent. When I do instant, it's like a treat but Micronized will give you a better results. Luckily, I get no intestinal discomfort with Micronized, in fact, it is part of my high fiber diet. :D

::kavaleaf::I have to say that i order mainly order all my kava from ghk.I still use other vendors but if u let Chris know u are displeased he will make it right. Also the quality of his kava and customer service are legendary. As the others stated its expensive and labor intensive. As a ghk lover i hate to see a kava forum family member upset with a kava purchase esp from a top of the line vendor, like ghk. I have not been able to find any instant for 20 dollars with such selection and potency.::shell::.. I hope this does not keep u from trying ghk again. Peace .

What was ever 30 $ at Paradise ? ...a half pound maybe ?
I burn through a half pound of root in about a week.

It's just as well, because i just read on here that Vanuatu kavas tend to act more as sedatives and work better with people suffering from anxiety like me. GHK is hawaiian, as the name implies... Most of these hawaiian strains give you more of a heady cerebral effect...

Guess I'll just order from a different vendor if nothing at GHK will give me the best benefit for my anxiety.

Also, I took a full spoonful, put it in some apple cider, mixed it and chugged it down and barely felt anything at all. I mean, in all honesty, I hadn't ingested kava in almost two weeks, but I thought it would be stronger...

Oh well! Lesson learned!

I wouldn't feel much of anything with one spoonful either.
In regards to Hawaiian stuff, it sounds like you might like "Hiwa"...I find it to be the most sedating and mentally dulling Hawaiian 'awa. Also, 'Opihikao but it's a bit more enjoyable to me.
Then there are more varying balanced ones that you may like, they are Papakea, Mahakea, Mapulehu, Hanakapi'ai...
and the lighter head-only ones, that sound like they aren't what you're looking for, like Mo'i, Honokane 'Iki...

Hi Shredder, I am sorry that you feel ripped off, that was never my intention. I will not mention anything because all the others have said it for me but I will say here comes the legendary customer service-------------------------------
Let me know the name you bought it under in a PM and I will send you a full refund. I will be having a makas free Boroguru micronized from Vanuatu and that one might be what your looking for. But I will let you go try the other vendors. They have good products too, try Gary Mac at Kava Kauai he has some good Vanuatu instant. Aloha nui loa, Maika'i Ka Hana O ka 'Awa

I'm a newbie, just breaking through the reverse tolerance thing, and have only ever tried ghk's Mahakea medium grind and Moi instant. I'm finding that the instant is actually going further than the medium grind. Think of all the material (makas) that get thrown away after straining medium grind. With instant, it is all dissolved and consumed, and you're not throwing anything away.

Chris, do you know when you'll have that Boroguru micronized available? I'm trying to decide what to try for my next order. :D

In my experience Chris is a 5 star vendor. His kavas are arguably on the higher end of the price spectrum, but the quality (of both his products and customer service) is unmatched. These powders are clean, pure, beautiful and smooth. He offers reliability and consistency that few (if any?) other vendors can guarantee.
At the same time, instant kavas are generally (regardless of the vendor) known to be much more subtle than the micronized or even medium grind ones. I've never really felt much from ANY of the instants I've tried, but some of the other members of my kava club (especially those that are really sensitive to kava effects) like them as they are really, really gentle on the stomach.

Hi Kavapup, I should have the micronized Boroguru on my website by the end of the week, I will let everyone know when I get it up.
Aloha.

Micronized Noble Boroguru without Macas ... what will he think of next?

Oh yeah, now I remember. Extra strong instant with more lateral root. :hungry:

I think this thread and Chris' replies speak for themselves, but just going to pitch my voice in. GHK has been a great vendor to me. I understand, after a couple of purchases, why everyone will happily jump to his defense. He is very active here, quite kind, and has great customer service. :3

And anyway, I look at instant kava the way I look at buying a frozen lasagne. It's much more expensive than making a lasagne, but once in a while, I'm happy to pay twice as much for the frozen one, so that I don't have to spend 3 hours making it. You know, when I really want it, but really don't want to slave in my kitchen. If you're on a tight budget, though, you have to go with traditional root, all the way. I would strongly recommend against buying ANY vendor's instant kava, if you don't like GHK's. It was easily the best instant I ever bought.
