A question about time in a session

I have read in many places to wait 20-30 minutes between shells for a good session, but if you want a longer session, can you wait like an hour between shells then? Or does that destroy the experience? I am so very new to this and want to learn for the best experience. I love kava and want to make the most out of it.
Oh and another thought; is it ok to drink different kinds of kava in the same session? Like switching between two sorts?

Thank you, that was very good reading. I realise how much there is to learn about kava. I like that aspect, that it is so much more than just a drink.

An hour between shells is too long- it will start to wear off with that interval. My sessions usually last about 4 hours with shells spaced at approx 15 mins.
Its fine to switch kavas too - sometimes I'll mix a bowl of a headier kava like palarasul then switch to a heavier one for a second bowl.

Sometimes the word shell gets thrown around too much in my opinion for novices. What you might infer to be a shell, based on your method of extraction and water percentage can be a big difference. I have done Kava all sorts of ways. I have done 2 aluballs extracted 60 second shake all at once and then more in an hour. I have done spaced out every 20 minutes. I have waited 2 hours between doses. It all depends on how Kava finds you. You will learn to appreciate it. And switch around as you want it wont kill you.
