After my dad dried out for about a week or so I gave him a bowl of kava. He was far more....behaved...on kava. It was nice. I hadn't sat down and talked to him in 2or 3 years like that. For once it was actually a sober conversation if that makes any sense.

Hey Y'all

I guess i'm a late bloomer as I didn't take my first drink until the ripe old age of 36.
and drank for 2 solid-years and stopped cold turkey 4 years ago. I have no craving or liking whatsoever to ever take a drink of that awful toxic-shit again. :) I was private closet-drinker and never drank in public. A couple of wicked hangovers and a health incident put me on the straight-and-narrow path, if you will. LOL. I tried using alcohol as a substitute for heavy-opiate pain-meds when I ran out of them after a couple months or so of daily dosing. It was poor substitute. I kind of used it as an excuse to indulge and to self-medicate myself. I became dependent within a week or so of taking my prescription drugs. I found out that it's not uncommon for cancer patients (I had a sever-kidney cancer and had to have my right kidney cut-out and removed. And they opened me up like a Christmas Turkey! lol.) to become addicted to their meds. I've have used kava over the past 4 years and successfully to completely ween myself off. So Kava has been a God-Send.

That's my 2 cents.

Peace,
Get Krunked...Ooorahhh! (smiley: tongue)

Count me in as somebody using kava instead of alcohol... I've gained twenty-five pounds in the last few months thanks to alcohol, looking forward to getting rid of it with kava.

Booze really packs those pounds on, as I've noticed in the past as well, being a fan of good quality beer, especially. All the best with kicking that weight brother.
