@Mcmarshall2535 how did the process go with the transition from alcohol to kava with your friends alcoholism? It really has been an amazing help to so many in that area. We’ve seen so many reports of people quitting or drastically cutting back alcohol without the intent to do so. Love these magic roots.

Its been nothing short of amazing. We spend alot of time visiting and getting to know folks in the local kava scene and have heard all sorts of success stories of beating addiction and dependence. For reference, I'm a pharmacist by trade who works in the mental health and addiction field. Hearing story after story of these people finding success in kava to help them with addiction, anxiety, and even pain has been extremely heartening.

Pharmacist with medical PhD here. The goal is noble* but social support must not be disregarded during alcohol withdrawal.

* no pun intended but when talking about puns, I read that the means are noble as well!

It really is fantastic to see. I, personally, am one as well. Kava erased my cravings for opioids way back in 2005 and I knew there had to be something special about it. We're starting to see more people getting involved with kava that have previously been in the addiction treatment field. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. We need more people on the up and up with kava who have a background in addiction and medicine.

What was your favorite part of the process of making your kava beverage?

It's really interesting how many of us have come to kava from similar backgrounds concerning addiction. I started with a 25 year eating disorder and when one escape isn't working I turned to a few. Alcohol and bulimia were the biggest dragons in the end. Not that I didn't try other things. Of course I've done a massive amount of work on myself as well.

This is so very true. Every kava lounge/bar is different and has its own vibe, but what they all have in common (besides kava) is a safe-space kind of feel. It's been a wonderful experience to meet and connect with folks from all walks of life, and hear them open up freely about their stories. It goes to show that the culture behind kava transcends the root itself.

I am glad to help. It's an idea that came about during a time of healing in my own life and I am glad it has brought value to others in theirs.

That's a good question. I think it was during the early stages of trying to figure out if we could effectively flavor the product in the first place. We had a few friends over who happened to all have notoriously picky taste buds and none of whom had ever had kava before. We had a formula that we were pretty confident in for the orange cream flavor and it was time to put it to the test. I was honestly expecting one of them to spit it out, and was pleasantly surprised when they found it agreeable. After a few adjustments everyone loved it and its been the same formula since. The funny part came when they tasted the unflavored instant kava later on after we were all good and muddy. Probably should have warned them it was unflavored lol.
