Best instant kava?

I've tried quite a few different kinds of dried root powder but have never tried an instant kava. I feel like my collection is lacking despite the fact that my cupboard is full of ziplock baggies of brown powder  (smiley: laugh)
Can anyone recommend a good instant kava that won't break the bank, so to speak? And while you're at it, a brief description of the effects would be great so that I (hopefully) won't go out and buy them all. I'm supposed to pay bills with my tax refund but I'm allowed to treat myself a bit, right? This is an expensive hobby bordering on obsession, but I feel so empty without some instant!

I don't think there are enough instant kavas out there to pick a "best" one.



Nakamal at home is the only one I personally would bother with at least until Judd gets more in stock. I think Kona Kava has one...but...kona kava...eeh no thanks.



Island Kava sells instant if they're still in business, haven't heard there name on the forum for a long time though.

I hear ya, Vekta. I'm more of a traditionalist myself, but sometimes I get home after a long day and I just am too beat to bother with the whole process until I get some food in me (which of course isn't ideal and possibly a waste of good kava). If I had some instant on hand I could mix up some of that easily before supper. Anyone else try instant kavas?

I bought some from Island Kava recently to give extra punch to my traditionally made kava... haven't really used it. They are still in business though.

I got mine from realkava.com and was pretty impressed though i don't have any other instant to compare it to other than root. Like said above I like to add it as a turbo to a fresh squeezed batch. From this same place i buy Vanuatu root powder and have always been content with it too.

The decisions, the decisions!! I had no idea that there were so many instant kavas to be honest. You all are great, although my wallet may not agree.



I'll get a couple of sample packs and report back once I try them. I'm really looking forward to trying something new that appeals to the lazy slacker in me. Don't get me wrong, I love my root, but sometimes I just don't have the energy.

I have some of the Vanuatu Tudei instant and found it to be gritty and not dissolve real well. BKH Green is definitely the best. N@H Shaman isn't bad, but a bit pricey, I think it is a high DHM kava vs. the Fire Island is more high kavain, but that is just a guess. The Kona Kava instant is probably the best product that they have, which isn't saying much, at least it actually numbed my mouth unlike their regular kava root. When I'm in a paranoid mood, I sometimes wonder if Kona Kava is some kind of front set up by the US Govt to spread the myth that kava has no effect, thus dissuading people from consuming it.

I'd love to try the BKH Green but it's never in stock. I'll have to keep a close eye out for when it's back. Seems like a lot of places are low or out of stock lately. Maybe it's the season or maybe kava has gotten a lot more popular?

Sorry guys. Our Vanuatu Instant Green Kava truly is on its way now, and this batch is going to be epic. Check out the site in a week or so, it's coming from Vanuatu and left a week ago. A little explanation: We switched suppliers after our first order. The new supplier was having trouble keeping up with demand because of some production issues due to bad weather in Vanuatu. We finally got tired of waiting and went back to our original supplier who charges us more, but has some super strong, high quality stuff. Don't worry, we don't plan to pass the price increase on to customers.



Kavalover-Slacking? Never!! I don't leave for Vanuatu until the 17th, and even then my faithful employees will be squeezing the best kava this side of Port Vila at Bula Kava House, and packaging it up and shipping it out for all you lovely kava drinkers. We've got you covered!



Exciting update! Before hitting the reply button on this post I tracked the packages just for fun, not expecting any new information as to where the Vanuatu Instant Green Kava is (international post tracking is kind of a joke). Instead I saw an update that it has arrived at the sorting facility in Los Angeles. Cross your fingers that customs doesn't decide to hold onto it for a while and it should be available in a matter of days!

I'm totally slacking on studying for my calculus class, I was supposed to study tonight, but there's a lovely bag of kava over here... waiting to be squeezed into a beautiful coconut shell and consumed....

Update: My sample pack from Island Kava arrived today. Very fast shipping and well-packaged. Will report back once I try them out. Busy cramming for finals so it may take me a little while.

I broke down and just ordered 2x10gram packets of fire island from N@H along with 1/4kg of stone and 1/4kg of chiefs. I wanted to try out their new batches as I have heard some good reports on the new batch of chiefs, the last one I got was pretty overhyped and stone is always pretty good. I have gone with BKH my last 3 buys but wanted to give N@H another shot, I am sure I will be ordering from BKH again in the near future especially when the instant green comes back.
