And I'd like to thank @Deleted User (Garry) for kind of pioneering the idea that kava testing is important for the longevity of the industry.
Not to take anything away from Ol' Garry, but giving credit where it's due, Tyler with Root of Happiness and the AKA first pioneered the idea that all kava should be tested, especially for microbiological contamination. This was long before TK. Tyler himself has been doing these tests for his products long before you and I as well. I would credit Garry for pioneering attempting to confirm that kava is noble with the acetone test.

I've been paying close attention lately to the testing (or lack of testing) done by certain vendors. Tyler from the AKA does make a lot of valid points about the significance of testing because it's much better for the vendor and the industry to catch a problem before it causes damage. Noble/tudei is a minor issue when you compare it to people ending up in the hospital from bacterial illness or dealing with the complications of toxin exposure.

I've often thought the same. Some of the places these kavas are coming from are difficult at best to maintain a proper sanitization routine (It's already difficult here). The testing is our literal last shield of defense of one batch of salmonella really knocking the kava industry down a notch. Imagine if 100 people suddenly came here saying a specific kava vendor's product took them out of work for 8 days. Testing works, and it's historically show that as well. A vendor lost a rather large import when it came back positive for salmonella, so the evidence is there.

Agreed. I think its important both issues are thoughtfully handled by vendors to give the best possible experience to the ever growing base of kava consumers, protect it, and eventually make kava likely to become a registered food product.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Judd, your concern for the safety of kava, which transcends your own business and is reflective of a broader mission, is inspiring. I have never bought from you, because of various reasons. But, I will now. I think with this new policy change, with transparency and safety at the forefront, you are showing everyone that you are an industry leader. Leadership means doing something not easy and for the benefit of a wider community. Thank you for what you do.
