I would guess the same thing, but you'd think they'd be really careful about throwing the word 'stem' powder around when it comes to kava, these days in particular. Especially on kava coming from a country that is known to grind up stems and sell them, both legitimately(known as "kasa") and illegitimately(sold as or mixed into waka or lawena). Plus, if you've seen whole lawena, it doesn't resemble stems at all, apart from the fact that the chopped off bottoms of the stems are usually attached to it still. Probably just an unfortunate translation issue or something, but...there's only one way to find out:

@Krunkie McKrunkface Have you tried Tikaram's "Stem Powder"? If so, have you also consumed verified stem powder, for comparison.

I do believe that when Tikaram's calls their lawena stem powder they mean basal stem, which is what lawena is, the crown or corm or stump. I do not believe they mean aerial parts stem.
In any event I have consumed all four of Tikaram's kavas without any ill effects whatsoever.
I believe that too...but knowing for certain would be helpful for those people who don't want to consume Pipermethystine.
I've also consumed many unknown or questionable kavas to no ill effect, including tudei mixed with aerials, though had I persisted with these kavas long term, the outcome is unknown. Anyhow, main issue here isn't actually one of product quality or harm reduction, I merely wanted to tease the company for such an obvious and poor choice of wording. Stem Powder.
