Nope, I'm in arkansas. The wind has a bite to it, seems to dry me right out anyways. I also heat my house with a wood stove, and sometimes I forget to fill my water pan on top of my stove for humidification.

Kava is amazing.....but it tastes like crap. I have to suck on a peppermint and down it with a straw while I'm drinking it... since I've started drinking it regularly, my hair is falling out by the handfuls, my skin is peeling off and so dry that it's painful. For some reason my nails are stronger.

I'm wondering if regular use of kava causes some type of vitamin deficiency??

I never experienced any sort of hair loss but I have had times after drinking certain brands of kava ( some dry me out more than others) my hair will take on a dry stripped appearance almost like I used a really harsh shampoo and I would imagine longer hair in this weakened state would break easily maybe giving the appearance of actual hair loss. What brand are you drinking?

Dry peeling skin is a very common side effect (called dermopathy). The cause is unknown, but it is not because of a vitamin deficiency. If hair loss can happen as a side effect, it is extremely rare. My wife does not drink kava, but the shower is always clogged up with her hair. In her case I think it is just because of genetics, and the fact that her hair is long it tends to fall out more than mine.

To treat the skin I would recommend lanolin oil if the skin is broken. In areas where the skin is not open try Amlactin. (Amlactin can sting a lot if you put it on open, cracked skin, but I think it works better in the long term.)

My brother is younger than me and somewhat balding. He does not drink kava. I am older than him and have a luscious, full head, of beautiful long hair, and I drink copious amounts of kava. Anecdotally I would have to say that Kava prevents hair loss.

No way Kava makes you loose hair. Bad hair genes make you lose hair. I also have a full head and if you look carefully, a full body of hair. Now I need to get back to my cave and get some work done.

I was losing my hair before I started drinking....and I am still losing my hair. No noticeable difference in the rate of hair loss. Now it is just a race between turning grey and falling out. My hairy palms, on the other hand, definitely due to kava...::rolling2::
