Kava is amazing.....but it tastes like crap. I have to suck on a peppermint and down it with a straw while I'm drinking it... since I've started drinking it regularly, my hair is falling out by the handfuls, my skin is peeling off and so dry that it's painful. For some reason my nails are stronger.
I'm wondering if regular use of kava causes some type of vitamin deficiency??
Dry peeling skin is a
very common side effect (called dermopathy). The cause is unknown, but it is not because of a vitamin deficiency. If hair loss can happen as a side effect, it is extremely rare. My wife does
not drink kava, but the shower is always clogged up with her hair. In her case I think it is just because of genetics, and the fact that her hair is long it tends to fall out more than mine.
To treat the skin I would recommend lanolin oil if the skin is broken. In areas where the skin is not open try Amlactin. (Amlactin can sting a lot if you put it on open, cracked skin, but I think it works better in the long term.)
