To get my bula kava instant order (50g) in! I'm thinking about getting some of that 11 year Waka too while it's on sale but this is my first time really trying the drink. Even though it's instant it's still good, right? How long will the 50g last me? I think I read maybe 5 - 10 cups.

Instant is a good place to start. All of the judgement is set aside, you just add this much powder to that much water and you have kava. When you make your own grog from ground up roots, it's not just root and water but also squeezing and straining and other "factors" that may influence the final product. Once you're familiar with what kava should be from drinking instant, you can reproduce (and tweak) the results from powdered root.

I'd say you'll probably get 5-7 cups. Most finely powdered kava weighs ~7 to 7.5 grams per tablespoon.. I personally use two, maybe two and a half tablespoons per kava session.

It's a great instant, but get ready for that savory kava flavor. Kava has a very distinct dirt, mud flavor with a strong bitter undertone.

2 teaspoons in 8 oz. of water did fine and stretched it out longer. But being new and using instant tablespoon is probably a better place to start. BKH sells a good instant.

Instant kava is on the sweeter side. It's a lot less offensive to the taste buds to start out on instant.

You buy 50 gram containers for the containers, not the content. I move my instant kava from the 500g bag to the smaller, more portable container.

Hello, my friend. Enjoy. You'll get about 10 moderately potent servings with that 50 grams. Being new to kava, you may need a little more to deal with reverse tolerance. Don't be afraid to really pile that powder in there. Start with 3 tsps, and increase if you're not feeling it. Do that twice in one day and if it's still not working for you wait until the next day to try again. Also, and this is very important, drink on an empty stomach.

The 11 Year is great too. Noble tested, smooth, strong, and nicely euphoric, as any noble Fijian kava should be. It's a good time to buy; sale is on through midnight tomorrow.

You convinced me! Actually I was on the fence but the 15% off made it like free shipping so I got the 1/2lb of the 11 year just now lol.

Figured I'm sure I'll be buying more anyway and I'm hoping reverse tolerance isn't an issue. I don't drink or use any mind altering substances, no medications etc. and I'm sensitive to that stuff but we shall see!

One option you have is to just keep on drinking until you feel the kava kick. Keep in mind, kava's effects are usually mild and subtle. About 10-20 shells are usually enough to break through.

Got it today! Fast shipping, man. Put a couple tsps in 8ozs of chocolate milk and oh man it was like ok at first but i was holding my nose by the end ugh lol

Definitely feeling more chill. Little harder to focus with my eyes but it's nice and just chill lol

Not "krunk" but relaxed. Could do more. Maybe in a few hours before American horror story lol

Oh yeah and one question: lots of froth when i shake it. Do I wait for that to settle? Chug as much as i can? Forget about it?

Very nice experience tonight. Definitely felt different and more euphoric and nonchalant but after I ate some food it pretty much went back to base but I'm sure this reverse tolerance will be nil in no time

One thing I have always done to hit my reverse tolerance is to take more kava than I should. Though, I done this without my grandmother knowing(who for some reason likes to moderate my kava intake).

Perhaps grandma has dreams of being a touʻa? Normally, this would be taboo, because she's your grandmother, and the touʻa cannot be related to anyone. If you discover that the touʻa serving your kava is a relative, you need to leave the kalapu, so that she can actively get her Rue McClanahan on. I guess it's fine if it's just the two of you, but if you have one or more friends over, you really should leave so that your grandma can hit on them and vice-versa, per the traditions of Tongan kava culture.

Sorry if this is an old thread. I don't get the reverse tolerance....I just keep taking it in higher doses and that creates the reverse tolerance? I don't do anything else...alcohol/street drugs but am on heavy duty painkillers / muscle relaxants from bad car accident 6 years ago. Desperately looking for a natural alternative - I'm pretty sure my liver is being more damaged by these pharma meds than Kava...just don't get the reverse tolerance. Have looked around at other forums but there doesn't seem to be an understanding of how it works etc.

Reverse tolerance is explained on this forum and elsewhere.
In short, kava doesn't work for everyone the first time. It often takes several nights or weeks until you start really feeling it. Once you do, you don't progressively become more and more tolerant to it. (like you would with alcohol, pain killers etc.) Frequent usage does not require you to increase your dose over time. Instead, rather, you can always maintain the same dose or even slightly lessen it with time and achieve the same effects. This is reverse tolerance.
