This week I found a new little Sāmoan market, and they have these tiny bags of ‘Ava Sāmoa for $12 each. They’re about 82 grams (2.90 oz.) — There wasn’t much aroma when I opened the bag and mixed it, but it’s surprisingly effective and tasted like Hawaiian ‘awa from the old days. Chalky, earthy and numbing. Effects are more balanced than what you’d typically expect from Sāmoan roots…and that’s a good thing for me.
