Kava Curious
So this question is for all the people out there who have one cup of kava every day or two without a break in supply, how do you fit this in your budget? Right now, kava is an every-two-months kind of deal for me, mostly because of price, 30 bucks or more for something good. I have a median US income. How do you justify the cost to yourself? Do you have a larger than median salary, or do you not spend much on other stuff? I'm just kind of wondering what the norm is here, so all opinions and perspectives welcome.

I always stock up pretty well. This way I have to order new kava about every 3 months.
However, I have to note here that for some time now I exclusively use the AluBall to prepare my kava. This has reduced my expenses (3 tblsp. in the AluBall are enough for one session - traditionally prepared I'd have to use about 6 tblsp.).

I doubt any of us are having one cup of kava per day.

I buy it as rarely as possible because shipping costs are enormous for me. My last big purchase was a few hundred dollars of medium grind from Nakamal@Home. Before that, it was a few hundred dollars of micronised from Kalm with Kava.

My general pattern is half a teaspoon or so of micronised Kalm with Kava Pouni Ono a couple of hours after I wake up. Later on, when the day's work and exercise is over, I'll have two heaping tablespoons of medium-grind, quite often extending to four tablespoons if I have time.

Justifying the cost is easy: I had anxiety-induced depression and now I don't directly and indirectly because of kava. The direct benefit is that kava reduces anxiousness, but the indirect benefit for me is that it got me off the sauce and got me to exercise more. I was drinking too much alcohol with my high-stress job (I'm starting a complicated business in a difficult part of the world). Because I was drinking at night, I didn't see the point in going to the gym as I knew I wouldn't be recovering properly. Now I have a regular gym schedule and really nice pecs.

I live within my means. It's not hard for me to find a few hundred dollars every few months, but I do notice when it has left my account.

As above, I simply take the money I used to spend on alcohol which was probably around £300 to £500 a month and I spend it on kava instead. I do earn well but I work 70 hours a week for it. I tend to buy in bulk and will think nothing of spending £1000 on a large order but that will last me a long time. Usually I will place one largish order a month and keep my stock levels very high, just due to being in the UK and having to order ahead due to shipping times. Also it's nice to have a huge variety to choose from.

Mmmm Kava
Truth is Kava is not something I should be spending money on now but I don't feel as though have much else as a choice. With the over the top anxiety I have my choices are rely on pharmaceuticals which didn't seem very helpful to me and I'm concerned about the long term effect or stick with kava. For me I consider less of a treat and more of a medical necessity

Oops, I meant to say once a week, I am able to spend more because, I don't drink anymore, like @Edward, same applies to me more or less and II do in fact drink kava everyday.

I spend ~$150 USD/month on Kava and that keeps me supplied with high end Noble for everyday use. I figure this is a lot less than what I spend on my family's cell phone bill - and keeps me out jail by not strangling the many people at work that really deserve it (y). I am lucky enough that both myself and my wifey make a good living.

I drink kava every day. I usually only use 3 tbsp or so. More than that when I'm off the next day. I just need enough to help me relax a little and get to sleep.
I used to drink booze every day basically to get to sleep, for a handful of years. I have anxiety to some degree and cant sleep well. My kava budget is still cheaper than drinking cheap bourbon every night and I don't have to worry about killing myself with drinking alcohol daily.
