Difference btw THC effects and kava?

Well... there ya have it.
I find no similarities between THC and Kava. I smoked almost every day for seven years before. Cannabis is in my opinion one of the drugs with lowest bad effects and should be legal everywhere. But I do at the same time find cannabis to be something that can get you really fucked up on and high as a kite. I've had a lot of anxious feelings when I have been high on cannabis. Kava doesn't really make you high, in my opinion. It feels like a really mild substance than can boost your social capacity or make you feel really relaxed in the sofa, both mentally and physically. But if you want a high like cannabis with THC, Kava is not really what you should go after.

That Kava is really mild and does not make me high, as all the other substances I have tried, is a positiv thing for me. I find Kava as a really got root that can boost the day/evening/night without making you high and you don't loose your judgement. I still feel really good when I have been drinking Kava, but I would not describe is as being high. For me as a former user of hard drugs and drinking alcohol too much, Kava is a really good thing that can make stress go away or make me more talkative. Having Kava as a boost of my enjoyment of life feels a lot better than being drunk or high on drugs all the time.

Can anyone relate to this?

Bula!
Yes, I completely relate. I'm very sensitive to mj although there have been a few things I've enjoyed in edibles because I only micro dose. Any time I've smoked, no matter how good the strain, I've had some anxiety. I don't need that right now. I also drank my fair share for a bit. I am a bit new to drinking kava so I'm working through some RT but I do feel better emotionally so that's worth more than drinking. Far more.

There is always, for me, way less propensity to experience uncomfortable anxiety with moderate edible doses, vs vaporization.

Even a few hits of vapor can put me into a sudden anxiety state, and I am a very long term cannabis user.

These days, I mainly medicate with edibles, occasional vapor.

When I do have a rare vaporizer session these days before my kava session, I really appreciate the kava a lot more from word go.

Also, seperately but on topic. The fundamental distinction to recognize beteween cannabis and Kava, is that kava is generally regarded as being very clear headed for the consciousness and thought processes.

Cannabis on the other hand although still highly merited for its ability to raise awareness and produce epiphanies, is by contrast a much less clear headed experience.

I find it interesting that cannabis is highly merited for this. Because in my experience with myself and my friends, when I smoked cannabis every day for some years, that the epiphanies usually was really bad when I looked at them in a sober state. But I also know that a lot of people claim that good ideas (That are good ideas when sober too) comes to them while smoking. Kava is a lot more useful for raising awareness in my experience so far.

Yes. I do like a very small dose of edible every now and again but I've never been what I would call clear in my Higher Self. Kava allows that more than mj. At least for me. I really have to watch the strains on mj too. My anxiety might not be present at the time but I can experience anxiety after it wears off. That doesn't happen with kava.

Hello. You have just made me think how one very crucial aspect of how cannabis works in terms of benefiting the consciousness and clarity of perception.... it is much more effective I believe if used only occasionally with reasonable breaks between uses and then time off after that for the integration process very similar to a classical psychedelic like LSD.

When using cannabis edibles daily the experience is not at all alarming or anxiety provoking unless you can buy in it with a pretty high dose of LSD, as I have caught myself out on on recent occasions lol.

But homemade cannabis edibles with very low dose LSD like between 25 and 50 micrograms can be really wonderful and synergistic without being overwhelming at all.

Anyway I am certain there is truth in that suggestion that using cannabis more occasionally Lee is where it can really significantly benefit with our self awareness and awareness of the external and where we are around life and how we can easily change this for the better.

Apparently many years ago the Arabs used to insist that cannabis should only be used at least every other day or every 3 days and I can actually totally understand and relate to this logic AND advice now aged 40 started using cannabis age 17.

I was just your typical pothead I thought it was the best thing on earth and it served me night and day.

But I do still feel that I have generally a very high level of awareness of myself and my surroundings and the wider world almost psychically and intuitively despite using very high doses of edible cannabis on a daily basis indefinitely.

But the reason for this is primarily digestive support for serious stomach and digestive problems from my lyme disease complications. The homemade edible cannabis is a true godsend for rapidly recovering severe stomach and digestive upset and clearing the system and renewing digestive potential on a daily basis.

If I did not need the Edible cannabis or digestive purposes and I did not have severe allergies to vaporizing cannabis however organic and clean, I would favour cannabis vaporization over edible consumption any day.

I believe that vaporizing cannabinoids with a particularly efficient medical vaporizer not all are vaporizer models are equally capable of of delivering the full potential of the medicinal psychoactive compounds into the bodily tissues.

I know for a fact that vaporizing cannabinoids is an especially supportive treatment for any type of heart condition and is used as a primary treatment system in the leading heart disease specialist hospital in Israel from what I have been told by patients there.

I had several acute viral heart infections in my life and on one occasion after a three-week break from vaporizing cannabis I had to stop using edibles because it was exacerbating the symptoms which were very severe and frightening at the time.

I have always had an especially healthy hearts thankfully with resting pulse between low 40s and 50s.

This time I honestly feared for my life or permanent damage but then I started vaporising weed again and within seconds my heart function normalised and can't down and all of the discomfort and physical distress completely went away and remained absent until I successfully treated and cleared the heart viral infection without any lasting harm whatsoever.

So I strongly believe that with the right vaporizer capable of truly delivering the medicinal potential of the cannabinoids that the method of vaporizing cannabis can be extraordinarily therapeutic and health supportive for so many different conditions in a way that edibles would perhaps full short.

One other point sorry I also find that no matter how much edibles I consume daily in combination with my heavy kava consumption and fairly frequent clean LSD mini and macro tripping, when I am not vaporising for a period and I have a little vapour it is as if I have zero tolerance for the vaporized cannabis despite being a heavy daily edible consumer.

That tells us very much and I am 100-percent adamant about this phenomena if you can call it that. Effectively like to different drugs because of the way they influence the body and mind.

Vaporising generally has a much stronger and longer lasting antidepressant effect for myself also so it would be my choice if I did not have severe allergies to practically everything edibles are so easy my mum makes them, bless and I do genuinely need the edibles for my digestive function and recovery for the meantime.

So sorry mate got carried away just sharing thoughts from experience.

Btw, I am extremely allergic to virtually all fertilizers including most organic ones so it's really impossible for me to tolerate any cannabis I do not grow myself with my mum's help which is as clean and organic and the minimal outdoor sun grown weed as you can get not this hydroponic 30% THC mind-blowing stuff.

But still surprisingly Potent and psychedelic and effective weed.

Yes I relate to that. In my 17 years of experience I have been both a full on 24/7 pothead and also an occasional user and for certain using cannabis occasionally is where the benefits lie for really Clarifying things in life for you at that present and producing so many positive realizations about how you can relax and do things differently and better.

And I always observed but try to ignore it deep down how ongoing compulsive and addictive daily usage of cannabis would basically lose these epiphanies to a general daily Blur.

I think it is a little analogous to LSD and it really strongly depends on your mindset and intentions and how you are within yourself regarding the effect and result.

But I can certainly relate to what you were saying although I strongly expect you were smoking much higher grade higher percentage of THC material possibly indoor hydroponic stuff or better quality anyway vs our United Kingdom sun growing autoflower herbs, which are still very nice quality and transcendental, but in a purer consciousness sense than chemically produced high THC products which is more like a man-made drug really when he think about it it and that's not what cannabis was gifted to this planet for I don't believe., however convenient.

One last thing they don't get me wrong if it wasn't for my crazy allergies I would quite happily smoke some really high Potent THC buds growing with organic weed indoors under lights, so you can call me out as a hypocrite on that one lol!
A lot of the weed I've been smoking, at least in the end of my "cannabis carrier", was stuff that was really potent. I lived in Barcelona, Spain, where there are a lot of cannabis clubs you can join. Because it's legal to grow your own weed and smoke at home. What you do is that you give a club the rights to grow this for you, it's a gray zone in the law but the justice system have not tried to stop clubs from selling to their members. You made me think for a bit and I realized that I have been smoking some more natural stuff grown outdoors and it was a more calm experience. I usually stayed away from sativa dominant strains because it made my brain go "Vroooom" and a bad and anxiety loaded way. I recently tried to smoke some hemp buds that had a high CBD-content but almost 0 of THC, the THC was so low that it would not even be noticeable for my consciousness. But smoking these buds was a lot like Kava in a way. I can really see the similarities between CBD and Kava, but not really with cannabis that have a really high amount of THC.

It might be that I am tired, but I could not really grasp what your experience with having only Kava in your body is? Or do you usually drink Kava with other substances?
What have you experienced when it comes to psychoactive highs with Kava alone? Curious to hear more about it!

I'm curious as well. I just don't like mixing things because of my potential to jump into anxiety. Currently, I'm just experiencing kava by itself and going slowly as I'm a bit new to trad prep and drinking it so I'm trying to feel my way through each strain without adding anything. The only thing I might add in the future is a small amount of mj. I'm REALLY sensitive to mj no matter the strain. And then again, I might not add anything.

Hi there. Good question and very appropriate which you have asked me and I must admit I have never once used kava strictly by itself with no other psychoactive substances that day because I I'm dependent on edible homemade cannabis everyday for digestive assistance for long-term digestive issues as a result of my lyme disease and allergies and I really could not cope or survive without the Edible cannabis for digestive support.

But I also use a variety of other psychoactive substances most of the time as well and for me personally the kava is an excellent complement to the other substances individually and collectively and this will surely enhance its psychoactivity properties.

However I still argue that kava is psychoactive by itself but again it will depend on the specific cultivar and source and preparation method and maybe some other factors as well to do with diet and personal physiology and brain chemistry for all that we know.

Kava gets me as high and wasted as any of the other drugs I use I know that but sometimes I take very large amounts spread over a day like 75g at most I Believe in a single day, usually between 30 and 50 g daily.

Just one question which you don't have to answer I'm just thinking Aloud I wonder if you eat sufficient healthy natural and unrefined fats in your diet? I imagine somebody who follows a very low fat diet may experience far less effects in general and especially psychoactive effects from consuming kava but just a thought.

Make sure to add sunflower lecithin to your kava preparation if you are not using something which is regarded as equally or even more effectively potentiating like cow's milk.

I strongly believe that the sunflower lecithin makes a substantial difference to the potency and effectiveness and extraction.

On that, in my longterm experience of many different psychoactive substances by far the most powerful potentiator I have ever experienced myself is raw garlic but it really must be organic and you need to crush it as finely as you can and leave it for10 minutes before consuming, because a chemical reaction takes place and the famously known medicinal compound in garlic allicin is fully formed after about 10 minutes after crushing.

If I take my raw garlic at the same time as cannabis it practically halves my tolerance to the cannabis, and it very strongly potentiates and increases the potency and psychoactivity of virtually every other psychoactive substance I have consumed it with.

Turmeric and cayenne also strong potentiators.

i used kava to quit what was a completely out of control marijuana habit. I love weed and have nothing against it, but for me personally i was completely addicted and it made me pretty much crazy. The big difference with kava is i don't feel it really changes the way i think, and is much more relaxing. Weed was always a stimulant for me, and my thoughts would race uncontrollably any time i smoked (so basically all day every day haha). This over almost 2 decades, became really taxing and my mental health declined.

Kava is great because to me it can feel kind of stoney, make you woozy in a good way like weed can, but it doesnt f*ck with my head. Like at all. SO it can lift my mood, make me feel relaxed, sleepy and kinda buzzed, but it doesnt send me into the thought spirals weed did. I am so grateful my herbalist friend recommended it as a good tool for quitting herb, that was almost a year ago and im so much happier for it.

That is interesting. What I can say about garlic is that is can have a quite calming and sedative effect. Garlic alone....

Does kava promote psychosis like cannabis can?
I doubt it…
You’re correct in your doubt. Kava has been even seen to reduce some types of psychosis.

I personally don't do edibles, bad experiences plus anxiety, don't need/like it lasting soo long. I also don't use much cannabis as for me it doesn't really relax me and can make me anxious half the time. Having said that I microdose it daily, mostly in the form of vaporization of shatter (cannabis extract),mostly prebed and think it's a wonderful plant. I'm just jealous of others that can just smoke away and be relaxed.
With kava it's not like that, it's always enjoyable minus the odd mild nausea from time to time.
To me they are very different in many ways. Though I guess when the cannabis is on way out and the burnout is there, it's a bit like a heavy kava.

Kava and cannabis go well together imo. I actually prefer to use them together than cannabis alone, cuts anxiety.
I use it for medicinal reasons etc.

If being high is a bad thing, then kava does not make me feel high. The experience can be profoundly pleasurable for me. High is a loaded term and I definitely code switch when I talk to people. But In my personal king I usually think of it as being faded. A pleasantly functional state of mind that is increasingly hedonic with higher dosages. I am extremely drawn to things that cause a functional change of consciousness. I really value being present and don’t want to escape but I am pretty much determined to change my consciousness on a regular basis. Middle grade Cannabis with a tolerance is probably not that much crazier than kava. I’m in a legal state right now and there is no amount in the current market that I can ingest that doesn’t completely hijack my night. It’s miles away from kava, for me. I drink kava daily and find it helps me focus in small doses. But the cannabis I had in highschool was considered quality back before it was a massive legal industry and did not totally screw me up. One of my buddies smokes that crazy legal stuff (3-4 grams per day) and I can’t even tell when he is high, he smokes a blunt right before work. 1 hit off his mealtime blunt had me pacing for 4 hours with my mind all over the place, heart racing and twitching, with a mixture of euphoria and anxiety. But dosage and tolerance is everything of course. I do find plenty of room for comparison between cbd and kava however. I love a high quality cbd product and get similar benefits to kava. Kava is a little bit more lively and possibly more dopaminergic than cbd though.

I pretty much only cook my own edibles from locally grown additive free cannabis. Once in a rare while I'll smoke it. No concentrates, no lab grown plants, only the most natural and self-processed I can get my hands on. Blended with kava it makes the kava significantly more potent, partly due to being fatty and kava binding to fats and digesting more easily. It is not a blend I seek out. I generally prefer one or the other. Plus I don't eat my greens as often as I drink kava.
