I seem to be in the minority here but I never do a 2nd wash with dry powder - mainly because I have found it to be so weak. If I want another bowl after my first has ran dry I just use more fresh powder for another bowl. Even with fresh green kava in Vanuatu people will only reuse the makas in troubled times when no more fresh root is immediately available.
However, I haven't yet tried many of the noble powdered products mentioned in this forum so wouldn't write off a second wash - I just haven't found it worthwhile so far.
