Kava Enthusiast
This is day 8 of total abstinence after applying lotion twice per day and sometimes a third time on areas that seem worse than others. I read somewhere that some islanders would deliberately drink kava to the point that it effectively exfoliated their entire bodies because the skin underneath would be so soft and fresh.

I think I have arrived at that point. Looks like I could shed my skin like a snake. If only I could just pull it off in one piece and be done with it. I’m grateful to have a break from the nerve pain that only kava so far can relieve in a relatively safe way. The pharmaceuticals are all off label and actually anti-seizure or antidepressant drugs.

No judgment if those work for you but after looking at the side effects I’m afraid to try them. Still, this is a quandary for me. On the one hand, the insomnia looks like 1 1/2-4 hours of fitful, often interrupted sleep and nagging stinging pain from the tail bone to the sit bone. (Are these technically called the sacrum, coccyx, and ischial tuberosa?). Or I swing from doses that are not quite enough to seeing double but at least getting pain relief and more restful sleep, but ending up with dermopathy.

The pattern of fatigue is different but more or less six of one half dozen of the other. My energy biorhythm is more streamlined with smoother highs and lows when drinking kava consistently. Without it, brief spikes are followed by deep crashes.

I would prefer to avoid AmLactin due to the petroleum jelly in it. They have a decent rating by the Environmental Working Group, but I would prefer something with a higher rating. Purity Woods is by far the best, but outrageously expensive at 70-80 USD for 50ml/1.7fl oz.

Is AmLactin really that much better than any other lotion? Does anyone know of anything else comparable in effectiveness yet less toxic in ingredients?
